Does anyone have an opinion as to the gender of these 10 week old polish chicks? Is there anything special I should be looking for when trying to identify their gender? TIA
Hello Everyone. I would like to worm my girls tonight and this is what I have on hand. I have safeguard (25gram paste 10%) and Ivermectin pour on for cattle (5mg/ml). I think I used the ivermectin in the past as it was recommended to kill lice too. Any suggestions? Dosages would also be very...
I had 17 Olive Eggers (French Copper Maran and Americauna) in the bator last week. 9 hatched, 3 were duds and the rest died as full term chicks in their shell. After much research, I think I may have drowned them by having my humidity too high during the first 18 days of incubation. I had 50-65...
I filled the trenches and my humidity was 50-60% on days 1-18. After reading some of the forum responses to humidity I think that may have been what killed them. They pipped internally and there was a bunch of water in the air cell and they drowned. I'm starting another batch Monday. I'm going...
Thanks. When using the balloons....do you still fill up the bottom trenches with water and just add the balloon to the bator? Next hatch, I will turn down my temp.
This is probably a dumb question... but if you take them out of the bator to candle/float test (after the due date) does it matter if they are put back in a different position??
Great thinking....with the balloon! I originally started my bator at 99.5 degrees. Then I read somewhere that the still air incubators should be run higher....at 101-102. Is this incorrect?
Yes, I'm wondering if there may have been a minuscule hole in the eggs and I drowned them. I candled them but only saw large masses without any movement. Do you always see movement when candling (if they are alive?)
I would LOVE some advice. I just completed my first hatch. I got 11 chicks out of 19 fertile eggs which I believe is about 55%. The thing that is killing me is that I eggtopsied the remaining 8 eggs today and discovered all we full grown chicken fetuses but were all dead. I candled and float...
This thread was just what I was looking for. One of hens had poop build up under her vent and I wasn't sure how to get it off. I tried cutting it but it made me nervous. I will bathe her bum tomorrow. Would coating it with vaseline help?
I have a question. We recently got a Buff gander and goose who were not mated but are getting along great. This is our first experience with geese and we love them. We have 5 ponds where they spend most of their time along with 3 mallard ducks. They have learned how to get home and walk up to...
