I rescued an African? goose last weekend from a not great situation. She was the only goose in a 20x10 indoor room with concrete floors and cinder block walls and about 100 other chickens and meat birds. She is very emaciated, keel visible, breathing heavy, and was pretty lethargic. Since last...
We have started to show an interest in self feeding. She can do very runny foods, aka baby food consistency. She is eating raw egg, and drinks a ton of water. I'm not so concerned about hydration, more just calories at this point. What calorie dense foods that can be pureed 6 ways from Sunday...
My pekin, Clarabelle, has broken her bill. It was about 90% detached. We attempted to do an acrylic repair. She was not on board, and broke it all the way off. What is the best way to navigate this injury. She is drinking with no issues, but not big on eating yet. I did get a little bit of...
Update: We are much more alert this AM with a lot more body coordination. We are alert, but also wary, which is a good sign. It drank a decent amount of water, and there is quite a bit of poop from overnight. It's injured eye is half open today and less swelling. I think this ones going to make...
I am well aware it would be better for it to go tonight, however, they are closed for the evening, and not available for drop offs until 8:30 tomorrow AM.
It has pooped, which did appear normal.
Beak was dipped in water and it did not appear to be interested.
It is resting on a pine shavings and grass hay bed currently
I came across a Canadian goose that was most likely hit by a car this afternoon. It was laying on its breast in the roadway. It half-heartedly flapped it's wings and stagged off a few steps when I went to get it out of the road. I brought it home, it is in a dog crate in the garage for now. It...
Help Illinois. I was given a single 2 day old chick today, does anyone have any chicks available right now? I do not care what breed, just need a buddy, female preferred. I can come and pick up tomorrow. I am located in Chicago suburbs, willing to travel up to 3hrs out.
I do have other 2 ducks, a khaki and a swedish. The girls have adopted these two and are teaching them proper duck stuff and important life skills. These two are definitely more social and friendly then my two older girls. I'm glad they are going to be quiet, my other two are mouthy and loud...
I had two polish roos over the winter, one did fine, he was the dominant one, and was able to roost between hens. The other one was left to roost solo and ended up with frostbite on his feet. My neighbor has a polish hen, she does fine, but is in a coop with other cold hardy breeds.
I was givin these two about a month ago when they were found alone near a river. They are definitely domestic, any ideas on what breed they are? Hens or drakes?
These two were found dumped near a waterway to fend for themselves. I think the darker one is a Swedish but any guesses on the lighter one on the left is? It is really red in color.
Hi everyone, my name is Ed and I am a 10 month old polish rooster. I had some questions I wanted to ask about my feet because my human is still pretty worried about them. A few months ago in January, I had a disagreement with one of the other roosters I lived with, Paulie, and I ended up...
I personally will be avoiding Rural King in the future. I have gotten a total of 7 chicks from them in the past 2 years. 6 out of 7 have turned out to be roosters. One I got this year was supposed to be a leghorn pullet, but is a really a Cornish cockrel. And yes, they were all from the "sexed"...
