I'll soon be starting a breeding program, for Black Langshans, Blue/Black/Splash Ameraucanas, and PQ silkies, in white, black, blue, and splash. Pics loaded when I have the facilities completely finished. Thanks.
We're in the process of doing the same thing here. We bought breeder stock of Marans and Ameraucanas, and we've had a self sustaining free range flock for almost 15 years. We converted our dog's kennel into a new coop, and have plans for 2 more all built out of our barn with outdoor runs. We are...
Yep, I know, it would just help with immediate flock management numbers, knowing what I hatch when i hatch them. Yes, the BR's would be for green of course, and I'm hoping that the production blacks won't dilute the blue too much so that I can use them to make more productive blue egg laying hybrids
Does anyone have these birds? I am planning crosses with my BBS ameraucanas for green egg production and have settled on barred rocks for green eggs, I am hoping to improve blue egg prodcution with some of these production blacks, since i'll be able to sex link the baby lik the BR's. I'm mainly...
I agree with speckled, nilla looks like fine strapping lad, the EE, could still go either way, I have ameraucana hens that have one or two rooish feathers in their tails, and i have some that are around 13 weeks, and I con only tell sexes on some, and only by comparison, the boys are starting to...
I just got 4 swedish duckling, they will winter with my chickens until spring when I can set their pond up. I was wondering, when would i expect maturity, mating, laying, etc? They are a week and a half old. Also anyone have any helpful hints about the breed? One of my blacks is crested. How...
Humm, I've looked at the standard on that page, but not the pics, thanks.
Some fo the hens do have the feathers I'm talkign about, mostly not as pronounced as in my hens though.
My camera suffered great mishap a few weeks ago...
The feathers I'm talking about are the long sex feathers that roosters get in their tails. Some of the hens have one or two, they aren't as shiny or pretty as those of the roosters, but are still long and rooster like.
