Feather sexing isn't too expensive, I had it done to a clutch of babies where I was specifically trying to get a female of a certain color. I get attached too easy to them and so I needed to know young so I could rehome the others before it was too hard, lol.

Might depend on the turkey. The harnesses always fit my hens fine, it would just bunch up a bit. I've never tried to harness my tom because he won't deflate if he can see me.
I never had luck leading. I just let them walk and I followed when I did try harnesses.
They can, I believe. It's the sound of the air being released I think. It's been awhile but some of my hens strutted before laying eggs, and I feel like I remember hearing one of them making the "pfft" noise when flexing, Just no drum after.
Been awhile, some update photos!
Griffon is about 6 and still going strong. Still my handsome baby boy.
Budgie earlier this summer suddenly came down with wry neck. Took her to the vet and they gave us homeopathic stuff that didn't work at all. We were tube feeding her and it had been about...
The padded mesh dog harnesses will work, but they are usually a bit wonky bc they arent made to fit. These ones
Or if you really want you can probably custom order one off etsy. I did for one of my friendly hens when she was younger but she never liked it lol. Just look up chicken harness and...
i think it just has to do with the fact her feathers are black! i've had a couple of hens with crazy face fuzz but they're lighter colored so it looked a lot less dramatic!
budgie here for example has quite a lot! but it's the same lilac as her feathers so it doesn't look as crazy until you're...
Wow thanks everyone!!! Everyone here had some nasty looking birds, I'm surprised Lil baby came out top of her class! (She's nasty in both looks and personality, though, so I'm not that surprised I guess)
Hey y'all. What's the chances of an adult turkey having symptoms of coccidiosis? I just saw my 6 yr old tom poop and looked at it and saw it had some pinkish in it. No worms that I can see, but I imagine it's about time to worm them again. Just wondering if I should consider treating for...
He should be slowing down, yeah. If he stops for the year before I can notice the implant taking effect I'll keep him around at least until breeding season next year.
Hen's snoods generally sit up on their heads, they only lay down sometimes. Most of my hens with smaller snoods have theirs up most of the time. It's hard to see the snood here though because it's a tad blurry haha.
Oops, just saw this. As of right now unfortunately no change. He's still been mounting the females when they present. The man has spent all of his life pretty much displaying like 24/7 so I am afraid he has too much testosterone to be quelled, lol. I'm just keeping an eye on him for now. The hen...
Haha, what a cutie. I love the little arms. I imagine they are too young to sex from images but my personal guess if it were my bird would be a Tom. The larger caruncle growth at this age and fairly bald head are usually early indicators for me, along with some of the more intense wrinkling...
She offered caponizing, but since he would need anesthesia it most likely would be far out of my budget. Bachelor pad idea is neat but Im honestly stressed out constantly by the small amount i do have right now that I dont know if adding another one will help haha. Thank you though!
I understand that for sure. If mine were breeders I definitely would not spend the money on them that I do, haha. I don't fault breeders at all. This has been a hard choice for me because I know keeping him around with his current breeding will also put my females at risk.
I was willing to...
Ohhh okay I see! This is so helpful thank you haha. I've tried to figure out how to break these things down but my brain never understands. (writes this all down)
I believe we have the blue bottle of excede at work, so the 200mg. I've been doing 0.8ml IM every 3 days which was the...
