Chicken Coop Heater - Have you used this product?

Thats great to hear, sounds like our coops are similar. Mine is 4ft x 8ft as well. So even with your two vents open on the side and large ceiling vent it keeps enough heat inside? I think I will be ordering one soon. Thanks for the reply

Chicken Coop Heater - Have you used this product?

Hello, I know a lot of people will say that the chickens don't need the coop to be heated, as they are great with temperature control. With proper ventilation to reduce moisture, they should be fine in an insulated coop. That being said, where I live can drop down to -40 degrees celcius; thats...

    Chicken Run size

Hello, I am in the process of building my chicken coop and run. I have done a lot of research into coop size per bird and I have built my coop accordingly. I will be getting six birds in april and have until then to build my run, before buying all the lumber I wanted to make sure my run size...

    Burying hardward cloth

Burying screen is a much more aesthetically pleasing and safe way of installing the screen. Screen simply laid on the ground, or slightly underground can become a tripping hazard or even a cutting hazard around the coop. Raccoons, skunks, foxes and coyotes are very intelligent and will know to...

    Burying hardward cloth

Many animal species can easily dig one foot down into the ground, you can't just go one foot down, you also need to go one foot out with the screen. Raccoons, skunks, foxes, and coyotes are all capable of burrowing. With the L shape of the screen it doesn't matter where they dig, they will keep...

    Burying hardward cloth

I worked in wildlife control for years, keeping raccoons, skunks, foxes, etc out of where they shouldn't be! Dig down one foot into the ground and one foot out and screen it in a L shape. Heavier gauge of screen the better!

    BYC: Getting started

Awesome thank you, and thanks for the warm welcome from everyone! For ventilation, I currently have drilled quarter sized holes into one side, with a home wall vent on the other to allow for good air flow through the coop. Love any information anyone can give me on all my questions!

    BYC: Getting started

Hello everyone, first time post here. I recently convinced my partner to allow me to get some chickens! She has told me she is "afraid" of chickens, but she knows this is something I have wanted for some time; after a lot of research and chicken videos she is finally on board! Little does she...
