    I see your guys point, but as you pointed out the hardware cloth doesn't look great , so I think I will fully vent my soffit and will get the same effect without unsightly hardware cloth on the soffit.

    I have 1 foot eaves all the way around but plan on just putting soffit up. I have 3 windows and a metal roof that I left vented for heat.

    It's been fun, but with the size of the coop I've been having to build it as I have the money. It's not only 8X10 but 8 foot tall and 18 inches off the ground. on a 4:12 pitch roof that I vaulted and over the nest boxes went to a 2:12 Pitch.

    My run will be 12x10 and when I get my flock to that size I will probably have more coops built. I have old coops using now that I will remodel when the full size one gets finished. I have a 10X6 under a shed that needs recouping and a 4x5. I will probably use those for breed separation. Next...
