My silkie hen has this weird stuff on her head and face. It seems to come off a little when I wipe it with a damp cloth, but it's almost like something got stuck on her head and dried there.
I have absolutely no idea what it is, or how it got there. It doesn't seem to be causing her any pain...
My little black silkie hen has splay leg. IDK how she got it, since I got her as an adult, but she seems to have trouble walking. Can splay leg be treated when they're adults? Would binding the legs together help?
She can walk on her own, but she seems to have a lot of trouble. For the most...
No, it turns out she was just fat. I decided to keep an eueb on her to see if her condition got any worse. However, apart from looking a little chubby, she continued to go about her business as usual.
I think she just got too many treats. I like to give my chickens things like lettuce, or...
Her poop looks normal. It was dark brown and white, and had a pudding like consistency. I'm not sure when her last egg was. I'll try to get a better picture picture of her vent. Her abdomen feels kinda like a small water balloon. Sort of like there's a little water in there. Could a lash egg or...
I think one of my old English game bantams has the beginning stages of water belly. Her abdomen looks slightly swollen and feels like it's got water inside. Her cloaca looks bigger than it should.
She's acting fine. She's eating and drinking normally, isn't showing any signs of respiratory...
I've got a black silkie that's less than a year old who seems to be having some balancing issues. She falls over easily, but can usually get up by herself shortly afterwards. It usually happens when she's running and trips, but I've also seen her do it when she lands from a favorite perching...
Yeah, but I can't afford one right now. In any case, I live pretty far put on the country, so I don't think anyone's stealing them. Everyone tends to keep to themselves. Besides, there aren't that many houses in my area. Everyone's pretty spread out.
But what about the ducks just disappearing? They'd have to try to squeeze it under a small hole in the barn or climb over an 8 foot fence to get them. The run is about the size of a small dog pen. A hawk or owl would have a pretty tight squeeze to just swoop in.
They'd almost have to land...
Could they run off with a duck without leaving any trace behind? The only way to get in is to dig under the barn or climb an 8 foot high fence. There aren't any large holes under the barn as far as I know. The only way to get in is to climb the fence.
There's no fence or netting over the top of the run. I haven't seen any huge piles of feathers left behind. My ducks just disappeared. Will a raccoon maul something, but leave most of the carcass behind?
I've lost 6 ducks over the past 2 weeks. They just disappeared without a trace. There's no way they flew out bc their wings are clipped and the run has an 8 foot high fence. I also found one of my poor guineas mauled to death in the run.
All of my chickens are fine so far, but I need to find...
Actually, it's just the left eye. The other one is fine. Just flushing the eye hasn't gotten the stubborn bit of pus out. It won't come out when I squeeze it either. I'm pretty sure she's eating and drinking. She used the restroom on me twice today.
One of my chicks seems to have an eye infection. It's swollen and has pus on top of the eye that I can't get, as well as pus in the eyelid which I can easily squeeze out. She doesn't have nasal discharge or foaming, and her breathing seems to be fine.
I think she might have gotten something...
Her head is healing well. It looks like some of the scabs are flaking off, but I don't see any signs of infection. She's also been eating her chicken food pretty well.
I tried wet chicken food. I haven't given her any canned chicken or scrambled eggs yet. I've been keeping her inside with a buddy while she heals. I let her run around the house while I'm home.
