Sounds like a plan. Flashlights are hard to use if you can make a foil cone around the head that will concentrate the light to a beam it will help. Make sure your in a dark room and concentrate the light into the air cell let the egg rest on its side for a few min first.
I am so sorry. Are you using s strong candler are you putting them on there side to candle them if there upright there hart to read.. 8 of mine are fertile they showed on day 7. My fresh eggs from my flock usually show on day 5 so it did take them a little longer. I would contact the person you...
Are they first year hens?
There are allot of reasons for late quiets like the one you have with no movement and allot of liquid its not always humidity. I had 11 eggs this last set all from first year hens, getting ready for lock down and when I candled I had one in the group just like that...
Maby @Goosebaby can help I have never seen that on a goose but did have a dog that got something similar we used monistat 7 (yep the female cream) on it it was a yeast infection
The best way to check the eggs is to float them in water if they sink they may be fresh enough. Then candle them to make sure there still clear viable eggs.
sounds like your doing good. My fresh from the nest eggs loose more weight in there last 2 weeks not that much the first 2. So a little more humidity wouldn't hurt. Shipped eggs usually loose moisture in shipping also. sounds like Im only 2 days behind you.
How is the hatching, Mine came on Friday set them Saturday morning. Did a quick candle and fertility looks high didnt want to leave them on there side to do a good candle since a few airs sacks are not stable yet and have a slight saddle. Have allot of my own eggs but these are a little special...
White dots are in all eggs of healthy girls it means the egg is fertile BUT not fertilized thats the boy part. When it is fertilized the white dot spreads out and gets a big hallow around it. Most call that the Bullseye. With some of my geese it can be up to 1/4 inch.
Totally get it. The hatching eggs I have coming are from a special line. will be overthinking them because they are shipped. The rest are from my flock so know what to expect. I know what to expect from mine. feel free to ask questions as needed. Will try to help.
this is the special tray I made...
I hatch a few hundred of them every year. If you have a gram scale weigh them when you get them I can give you a better idea on hatch time.
My whites are still laying a smaller egg around 135-150 grams they hatch around 31 days my Pure-breed Heavyweights lay 170 grams to 210 gram eggs. they...
Auto sexing has more to do with the color genetics both breeds have different genetic dependents. Pilgrim link back to the Grey-leg goose and Chinese back to the swan goose. Gets kinda complicated to explain. And they have done lots of papers on it. You can play with the goose calculator to...
Use a similar spray every time I go to a show or introduce new geese. So far never had a problem but prevention is always a pay it forward. Your worm-er will do well.
extra vitamins and good feed, mites take allot out of them. white feathers do stain so when he molts it will clean that up. You may want to worm him also. So kind of you to take him on.
If you have any Vitamin B12 or complex B vitamins I would give him some right away, or even poultry cell or a complex vitamin mix.
Could he have gotten a hold of anything toxic?
Questions that others will ask what do his stools look like?
Any discharge from his Nostrils coughing or acting like...
