Does happen occasionally. Not to worry, as long as she is doing all the normal chicken things. So cute. It may only have a tiny speck of yolk, if any at all.
She bought and used them to decorate her porch. I think I'll make pumpkin soup one day. Rinds are very hard. I'll get pics soon. Forget the squirrels. I eat the seeds.
The dahlia project continues between many other commitments. Even after only one year the root mass is thick on many of them. Cutting them apart is sometimes difficult, and many go into the compost, but still have many left to plant, sell, or share next spring. Just a few more clumps to divide...
Finally got our new insulated garage doors installed. The other ones are close to 40 years old, wooden, noisy and difficult to open. Now we can barely hear them operate.
On the chicken front, I have a pullet who is going through a neck and partial molt at 9 months. She also has a bumble on the...
CORID and Valbazen. Others use ivermectin for worms. It is hard to prevent reinfection, all depends on what you have in your environment, and what they eat while free ranging. So sorry for your loss. If I see a need to worm ( usually dirty vents) then I worm all of them. Currently have 17 girls.
Last November my half of my flock was attacked by what seemed to be a weasel. One girl was unconscious but still breathing, upon inspection had bite marks on her upper neck.
She looked like your girl, with wry neck, and could not stand or balance. Gave her sugar water, dropper fed her egg...
It's temperature that matters more. Snow can be fun, or lava to them. Do they have a sheltered area or run? Mine take the latter stance. Make sure their water doesn't freeze. Browse for articles about winter care. Keep an eye on your forecasts.
Did you win the bug battle yet? I used permethrin. Had a bad mite infestation ( red ones that feed at night) . After battling with many things, finally removed the sides of the coop, and treated all surfaces and crevices. I put the panels back on leaving a gap between the supporting frame and...
Permethrin helped me win the mite war last year after trying other things. Took months! Also deconstructing coop panels, and treating those, where they were breeding.
Valbazen (Albendazole) is also a broad spectrum wormer. I keep a bottle on hand for any suspected worms, especially if I see dirty vent feathers. I worm all my girls at the same time. This is treat 2x, 10-14 days apart. No withdrawal period. Dosage is .8 ml per pound.
Yes. It can be troublesome when not all the hens molt at the same time. I find it easier to use a mixed flock/ all flock feed and offer oyster shell on the side. Also works well when there are roos. Too much calcium when not needed for laying can cause health issues.
True, you need a subscription to store any videos, which I don't like. I have 3 of them. Purchased 3 ieGeek cameras, which you can put an SD card into to record video. Does not need any subscription. I am happier with these, although I still use the Arlos, will not recommend them.
My sourdough overfloweth. So, made cornbread with elk and lentil chili for dinner, have rolls fermenting, maybe cinnamon rolls tomorrow. Don't want to throw away discard. I'm fortunate to have an experienced baker to guide and teach me, my son's fiancé
