Fowltemptress said it well, except I disagree with the snuggling. Chicks need warmth, so the are happy to snuggle against your chest in a cupped hand, or in the crook of your neck. I have one girl who still associates this with comfort (I assume), and enjoys snuggling, even in the hottest days...

I put down an old sheet, sit down on the floor, and let them climb over me. If the weather's warm, I take them out for a bit, too. I always handle them from the day I get them.
Paint is weird, but I have one who thinks the clear tarp around the run is tasty. And I endeavor to keep Styrofoam off the menu, too. That's a perennial favorite.
