Is a husky/pyrenees pup good farmdog??

Hello everyone! I am thinking of getting a new farmdog for the farm and need some advice. The family has always wanted a husky, but the facts of their high prey drive have put that notion away since we have chickens and goats. But, I have seen members of BYC that have full-bred huskies around...

Hmm, i'll take Captain Marvel, but can I choose another for the "giveable characters" area? If so, can I get Star Lord? ;) Ooh, or maybe Gamora too? BTW, I love the spreadsheet! lol! :)

Foster cat is a conspiracy theorist-help!

I've had a few of my barn cats that would not take their dewormer either, I usually got them to eat it if I gave them some warm, soft cat food from the store, and sticking the dewormer in it, crushing it up a bit though. I have heard that putting the dewormer in a food that is pasty ( better...

What Is The Latest In Your Garden Today? New Post From The 2012 Post

I'm in zone 8, we grow Roma tomatoes, and once the tomatoes start to change to blush, all of them usually ripen around the same time. Once most of the tomatoes on the vine have turned a blush color, we pull all tomatoes off the vine and uproot the plants, since in our area we have trouble with...

    New member

Hello and Welcome to BYC! There are many knowledgeable members on BYC that have many tips and tricks to share with everyone, so feel free to post any and all questions you have! I love to learn about other gamefowl breeds out there, what are the characteristics/qualities of this breed that you...

    Is she a roo?

I agree with @TheDawg and @Chipmunk Chicks , my Barred Rock girls have always had big, red wattles and combs that could maybe be mistaken for a rooster, but you would also hear/see the suspected chicken crowing and growing their beautiful rooster tail if breed allows. :)

    Wet chicks

I've learned the hard way to not house chicks and ducklings together until they are older or outside in a run with grass, the ducks make the brooder soiled faster than chicks, in my experience. Their poop is almost liquid, so it quickly soils the area. I like to house my ducklings separately or...

Can you tell me what breed these are?

I'm pretty sure the black chicks are Black Australorps, but the rest I can't be sure. The brown one in the first pic may be an easter egger, but i'm doubting myself because of her legs and feathers. That chick in the first pic also may be a rooster because the rest don't have as big of comb...

Chick still hasn't hatched after 21 days?!

Thank you for the advice, it is still kicking strong and the egg is rocking now, so I will not end it's life that fast until it is dead. I am in contact with many other hatchers that have experienced many late hatchers, so I am confident this chick will survive. Also, I am very willing to spend...

Chick still hasn't hatched after 21 days?!

It has not hatched yet, but it is still moving around in the egg. I'm still not sure if it has internally pipped, and I think it is now day 23, so am starting to worry, but i'm candling every morning and night.

Chick still hasn't hatched after 21 days?!

I'm sorry, My phone won't let me upload or post pics, although I can see that it's head is positioned I think toward the air sac, so i'm hopeful it will pip soon. That's a relief! I feel a little better, I will continue to monitor the progress of this chick. I have that article bookmarked, so...

Chick still hasn't hatched after 21 days?!

Hello everyone! looking for advice... all the eggs that made it to lockdown had hatched EXCEPT for one egg. It is day 21, and this one has not pipped, but I cant tell if it has internally pipped. I candled it, and it is still moving, but i'm worried if something is wrong with it. Is this normal...

    Goodbye, Holly.

I am very sorry. Just last week, I lost one of my hens to predators and no evidence of what it was. These very incidents help us better treat our flock better if we can, but some things just happen. My flock free ranges, so it's a given that some flock members will be lost, since they aren't in...

Egg color changes: a pink egg instead of blue/olive.

That is so weird! Not being mean, I have never seen any eggs change drastically like that! I do agree with @Hanathehappyhen , the egg is probably another hen, but if Zelda ( love her name! ) got a bit sick, usually hens bodies stop laying to focus their energy on getting better, so keep an eye...

ISO Euskal-Oiloa (Basque) hatching eggs or day old chicks!

I'm sorry, but what is this breed? Could you post pics of the hens? Also, where are you located? If you are trying to sell/get rid of excess hatching eggs, you might want to post more info on them. For other people, that may not be an issue, but for me, I like to know how the eggs are, how good...

Looking to freshen up my flock.

Now, I don't know much about keeping the flock's breed line pure, I walk into the feed store set on a particular breed for my flock, come out with all these totally different breeds ;) But I would say Buff Orpington and the Rhode Island Red chickens are my go-to for egg and meat purposes. The...
