Well end of day 53 I opened the air cells and no babies at all
My bstor did spike to 110 on me in the first few days
I think it killed any cells that would have started
The lady I got eggs from hatched before and after me as well as the one other person she sold to before me
A little...
I’m trying to catch up
I never make a safety hole in an egg unless there is internal pip or a bruise happens outside the air cell and then I will make a pin hole in the middle of the bruise
Some of those eggs look far from hatching
There is way to much liquid and room yet
The deep shadowing...
@Pyxis
I did a short video of the tap test today
These eggs were really tilted a few days ago
Now 3 are almost not tilted at all and one still has a bit bigger tilt not like it was though
Still warm at one end abd cools at air cell end
I’m on day 50 and have yet to see any wiggles
The eggs did start to tilt around 2-3 weeks are not as tilted since day 48
I smell them and nothing bad
No leaking
They have all lost the exact same amount of weight and are about 14.5 % of total loss
But have a few days left
If I take them out...
They are not needing to be active while absorbing
Keeping warm and keeping the yolk from drying out is most important
No wet paper towels as that chills them
Put a little piece of kitchen wrap over the bottom half of baby and then dry paper towel over that
Leave baby be to rest and absorb...
I have always sprayed from day 10 till lockdown
I have really high hatch rates
90-100%
Only time I got bad ones was when my bator messed up and spiked to 110 and cooler to 86 a few times
Company sent me new parts for it
I don’t spray in the bator
I pull the eggs out spray lightly
I don’t...
I would mix dish soap in with warm water
Use a cloth or cotton ball dunked in the mixture to wipe her down
I wouldn’t dunk her in the water as the first few days they shouldn’t get really wet
Could just do sections and then let her dry
Paper towel will help to absorb the wet area abd back...
I’m looking forward to the new place ;)
Spring clean is always terrible
I clean my coop daily so it’s never bad but the indoor / outdoor feed area I do twice a year
Today was the day for that
Oh my word it was awful 😞
Snow couldn’t get in but frost from waters abd ice ect melted and caused...
Germ is fully healed. His beak will never be perfect but the wounds healed and they don’t affect him from daily life
I’m very excited for my acreage
I still have my emu eggs in the bator at day 41. I had bought them 2 days before I saw the add to rescue the other two
Hopefully I get some to...
I haven’t updated in a long time
So much has happened lately we bought an acreage with 16 acres
We have the keys and have slowly been moving in but it’s a 3 hour drive
I had rescued 2 little emu babies and after my vet and massage guy tried all we could to save them when the growth spurt...
I leave mine with my daughter
I do feel guilty as I know she will do good but not like mom does
I also bring treats for the wild ducks at the lake as I miss seeing mine
Little different after 48 hours
It’s very easy to candle the egg above the air cell at that point
I can tell when they are ready to be helped without having to slowly open looking for veins
When ready you can see through the egg and only see baby
I don’t recommend opening eggs like that when assisting
I make a tiny pin hole and leave them be for 48 hours
Naturally they don’t make big holes
They make a crack and stay like that till zip. All they need is some air to get in but not big enough we can see in
I would keep that membrane...
Baby is a little miracle
This one will need a very special name :)
This thread will help others that may come into a similar situation
There is always hope ;)
You need to give yourself a high five as well
Yoy stayed calm and helped baby to be able to hatch !
