    My chickens, a rare view

What a wonderful flock! And yes, I believe you're correct on Zazu, she looks the same as our Blue Copper Maran that we got from Meyer.

27 week old Black star/sex link not laying?

We have a Blackstar/sex link that is not laying. She is 27 weeks and 2 days old. All the other chickens we got at the same time (including another black star) are laying and have been for weeks now. We have a few younger ones than her by about a month that are squatting and laying. I've checked...

RIR nesting in front of the nesting boxes?

Update to this one, all of them are now laying in the nesting boxes, including my newest layer. Three more to start laying, but at least the ones laying have them in the right place now.

    Possible Rooster?

A little update, the Silver Laced Wyandotte is a pullet for sure, she started squatting and gave me her first (small) egg yesterday. I still have the black sex link/star not laying, and it's been 25 weeks. I just checked her again today, and her vent is still very closed looking - her comb and...

    Possible Rooster?

Thank you, we were just so surprised that see that, but if it means nothing really, then we will just go under the assumption that are all females right now. If the Wyandotte ends up being a rooster, it's fine, we can have one of those as well.

    Possible Rooster?

Okay, I will let you know.

    Possible Rooster?

So, I'll ask it here as well, because this is what started all of this, and I got a confirmation that the egg looks fertilized - since this is what this is all about, too - is this egg fertilized?

    Possible Rooster?

Okay, we'll do that tomorrow, it's dark and they are asleep now! :)

    Possible Rooster?

Okay, we'll keep an eye on that one. The green queen and the wyandotte (and the maran) all are sort of in a subflock, and those two definitely fight for territory, so it wouldn't be surprising if one was a roo, but without seeing any other behavior, it is a little odd, no crowing, not even...

    Possible Rooster?

We have two ISA browns that are definitely laying, and beside the black star above, there is another who seems to be laying. I thought I had pictures of both our RIR's but it appears that I only have one of them so, I'll take a few photos of them both tomorrow, but...honestly, they appear to be...

    Possible Rooster?

Okay, here the Wyandotte is, the one picture is a little blurry, but hopefully this can help.

    Possible Rooster?

Let me try, it's getting dark here.

    Possible Rooster?

So after finding an egg yolk that looks like it's fertilized and was 2nd'd here on BYC, we want to see if we do actually have a rooster. We have several chicken laying that we know that are pullet, so we've excluded those, I've either seen them laying or seen them nesting in the nesting boxes...

    Fertile egg?

I'll post that in the correct forum. We know for sure a few ours are definitely hens, as I've seen them on the nest box or have seen them lay an egg, so we will exclude those. :)

    Fertile egg?

Hmmm...now to figure out who the rooster is.

    Fertile egg?

Very new to chickens - is this egg fertilized? I'm still not sure how to see the bullseye.

    Still having trouble integrating

We're in Northern Ohio. I'll try to get some pictures and no, we currently only have one feed and waterer, we're trying to rectify that - we did have two, but the other is now too small. We need to add more things for them to do, I do know that, it's just been time right now has been limited to...

    Still having trouble integrating

We have four that have been laying for a few weeks, we have one that is at POL and one that is nearly there (we got them all in April together), the others are a month behind, so likely mid-October for them to lay. We don't really have more room that we can give them, but we can build a few more...

    Still having trouble integrating

We have a flock of 9, 6 are a month older than the last three. We have a 36 square foot coop and a 90 foot run, and they get to free range for about an hour a day. Here is where the problem lies: We did everything we were supposed to to introduce the two group, we had a dog cage, both in the...
