Molting - not eating but well

@U_Stormcrow might have some advice if they don't improve. Also Wyorp Rock is very knowledgable, as is Shadrach. Molting sometimes is a long process.

And keep their regular food available. Molting seems to be a bit disorienting to our chicks. What did they do previously when they molted?

Mealworms and canned tuna for feather production. Don't force feed. How old are they?

Help for a homemade chicken feed

I would suggest you look at New Country Organics feed suppliers. I tried the organic mixing and realized that it's very expensive, time consuming, and hard to get a balanced nutritious feed for my chicks. Just ask Stormcrow. Good luck with your flock. NCO has fed my flock and they're very healthy.

    Thin wrinkly shells

You may want to reach out to @Wyorp Rock, an expert, to get more advice. You could mix a little of her food with a scrambled egg, just to entice her to eat. Sounds like you're doing all you can.

    Thin wrinkly shells

Is she still lethargic? You may want to isolate her so that you can keep a close eye on her. The warm epsom salts baths, even though she doesn't like them, may help her relax enough to pass the rest of the egg shell.

    Can I switch feed

When I have transitioned feed types, I've been advised to mix the old and the new for about a week or two, just to get them acclimated to the new. Their tummies are sensitive.

Are vent gleet and egg binding related issues?

Thanks so much. I want to be careful of their health, thus all the questions. Should there be any need for run fungal treatment, or replacing the pine chips?

Are vent gleet and egg binding related issues?

After losing Lucy to Salpingitis, I have noticed that several of our hens have poopy butt, and the overall flock egg production is about half of what we usually get (5 - 8 eggs a day down from 9 - 12). Reading as much as I can from all of the experts here on BYC, it looks like salpingitis can't...

    Broody hen issue

I don't argue either, that's why I've lived this long!:old We have a tendency to get too close to these babies. By the time one of those little chicks was found out to be a rooster, they'd be named, loved, and pampered - plus we would have a video archive of their first steps, first flight...
