Hi,
I've got a week old chick who is breathing heavy, sticking its head up and seems to be gasping for air. Once in a while it squeaks when trying to cheep, doesn't sound raspy or have any eye or nose discharge so I don't think it's a respiratory illness. It's crop feels firmer and small unlike...
Hi! :) In June I am getting 70+ chicks in the mail. I'm looking for a list of "essential supplies" I should keep on hand for these babies in anticipation of problems that need immediate treatment? I do have some various probiotic packs and things like that but I'm wondering if anyone has a good...
Hi there! We're designing our 12x16 chicken coop. The plan is to build it on a concrete base or on gravel and then have it up on concrete blocks. We're wondering what your coop is sitting on and what you'd recommend? The location for the new coop can get a little squishy when we get several...
Hen had diarrhea all over her back end. I soaked her and cleaned it off. Now she's in her own coop and run for monitoring. Diarrhea seems to be reduced but now it's green and yellow. I am adding Corid to the water. She's not eating and I'm not sure what the next steps are!

In the fall we had a rooster who was over breeding the hens so I sent him away. This was his favorite hen. I thought with time it would heal up but it's been a few months and looks the...
Hi! We sell eggs like hot cakes so we ordered 50 chicks to add onto our 25 bird flock in the summer. We are building a new coop with a large covered run and dedicated free ranging space. The town permits a 200 sq ft building without a permit so we are planning to build a 12x16 coop with an...

About rooster (roosters personality, why you need to rehome this rooster, etc.): Friendly, good to the hens, has an awesome personality and doesn't panic, seems pretty level headed. I don't...
Hi! I work for a university farm managing their livestock program. We also have a small farm at home raising beef cattle, chickens, sheep, sometimes hogs or broilers. I've been raising a small flock of layers for about a year. My partner has raised pasture layers and broilers in past years. We...
