Externally pipped egg moved on its side

Duck egg externally pipped today. I noticed the egg is moved though from rocking. Should I reposition it so the external pip is on the side of the egg...because now its nearer to the top of the egg. I hope this makes sense.

Does my duckling looked shrink wrapped

The duckling picture is of the original duckling I wondered if it was shrink wrapped.

Does my duckling looked shrink wrapped

Update. She did great! The cord dried up enough and we cut it. She's a spark plug and oh my goodness her awareness is amazing. The next egg that hatched was a Peking and it also required assistance. Its head was far back in the shell and couldn't get it past the membrane without us chipping...

Does my duckling looked shrink wrapped

That's possible! I had to create my own incubator last minute with a cardboard box. The thermometer I started out with wasn't super accurate. Will she disconnect herself from the shell when the yolk is done and the cord is dried up?

Does my duckling looked shrink wrapped

Today the veins in the egg are barely there...thread like, and the duckling wiggled its way out of the shell. BUT, it is still attached to the umbilical cord and a small amount of yolk is still attached to it. I was surprised to see this as the duckling was on day 31 today. Is this normal? I...

Does my duckling looked shrink wrapped

This is day 30. It internally pipped Saturday and never externally pipped. I didn't see movement or ever hear chirping. I made a safety hole Sunday and still didn't see movement but I did hear very faint chirps, but the duckling sounded weak. I opened the cap a little to investigate and found...

    Delaying lockdown?

This is what the egg looks like now. How do I know if its struggling? I never heard it peep but I do see movement inside.

    Delaying lockdown?

This is the black spot I see at the tip when I candle the egg where the air cell is.

    Delaying lockdown?

I noticed a bruising on the outside of the egg so I candled the egg while it was in the incubator. You know how the air sac looks bright white before they pip internally? Well the air sac isn't bright white anymore. In fact it appeared fairly dark and the tip of the egg has a darkness to it...

    Delaying lockdown?

Oopps. I candled again today. Hope that wasn't bad. I'm still not sure if it internally pipped. Today it looked the same ad yesterday... The shadowing is a little bigger, but I don't see an actual bill yet or chirping. Just shadowy movements that seem to be just at the edge, not in the middle of...

    Delaying lockdown?

I just candled them both just now and again I can see tiny shapes right at the edge if the air cell where it meets the shadowed part of the egg. And I felt the little one peck! 😍 When they do internally pip will I see their beak in the middle of the air cell instead of at the side? I'll will...

    Delaying lockdown?

Hello. Thank you for your response. Today is day 27 for one of the two eggs. This particular one is moving and when I candle the egg I can see something moving just at the edge of the air cell but not actually in the center of the air cell. I've watched videos of ducks internally pipping and the...

    Delaying lockdown?

Today is day 25 for my duck eggs. One is a Peking and the other is a mallard mix. So I candled today and neither of them have internally pipped yet. I have been turning them today like normal. Tomorrow is lockdown and I read for people with homemade incubators that have trouble keeping...

    Forcing a Brood -suggestions?

I didn't see anything but a yoke in them, however I don't think the eggs are even a week old. I suppose I should just open the coop tomorrow and let her come out and see if she returns to the nest. Will the Peking duck trample the eggs and break them if she goes into the nest?

    Forcing a Brood -suggestions?

So the fact she is sitting on the nest, does that mean she is interested in sitting?

    Forcing a Brood -suggestions?

Hi there. My 8 month old Mallard laid two eggs yesterday. Also yesterday our khaki Campbell passed away unexpectedly with two eggs in her own nest. Probably not more than 5 days old...and Im not sure if she was sitting on them, although she was putting straw over them. Anyways, I put her eggs...

My sweet Khaki Campbell died last night

I have three drakes and now just two females. I put Brownie's eggs under my female Mallard and she is now sitting on them along with two of her own. As of today, the boys are separated, except for my pekin male. He has never tried to mate with my mallard or Brownie. He seems quite happy with...

My sweet Khaki Campbell died last night

I happened to look out the window last night and saw my "Brownie" laying on the ground. My two male ducks were on top of her and biting her head. She is a khaki Campbell and "Cookie" one of the males that was on her is too. The other male is a Cayuga and they were all bought at the same...
