Hey all, recently one of my younger hens started laying. However she lays very pale eggs. When rubbed off with water the egg goes back to brown. Is this something I should be concerned about?
Note: Normal egg on right
I came out this morning to one of my 18 week old hens being jumped by my older hens and is bleeding on the comb.since that picture I have cleaned off the wound. I have also separated the other birds. Is there anything else I should do?
I’ve been storing feed in a galvanized trash bin for awhile and they are good. I keep it inside the garage. I recently got more chickens, hence more feed. I usually keep the feed inside the bag but now that’s not possible because they don’t fit. Can I just dump the feed straight into the bin...
last update: I woke up to check in her and she was up and active. Completely back to her normal self, moody and loud. She’s eating and drinking fine. I let her run around a little outside and decided she should go back to her friends in the run. Thank you to everyone for your help!
Huge update: she’s really doing better. Moving her head around and eating like crazy. She’s definitely very exhausted however. I’m very thankful for this, for only a few hours ago she was cold and not moving. I’m going to turn the lights off soon and let her sleep. I’ll update everyone in the...
Ok update: chicken is in a small bin in the house all wrapped up like a little burrito in Towels. She’s under a heating lamp and appears to be better. She drank a little sugar water. Under the wings is warm and dry. Thank you all for the help. Will update you soon.
My chicken fell in our pond. And when I found her she was soaking wet not moving. She is moving her eyes. Twitching and shivering. I’m blow drying her right now and holding her with a towel. Any thing else I can do?
I meant layer feed/crumbles. I didn’t know that about DE but it sure did help with the fly population. I think I’m going to wash her in a little tub tomorrow to loosen the crusted feathers and see if I can get the rest out. She’s been really cooperative today which really helped me out. Thank...
She is 9 months old, she’s been eating standard layer grain, grass, leaves whatever else they find in my yard, and sometimes table scraps. I’ve used Food Grade DE in their dust bath and coop in the past but not completely sure what you mean by wormer. The poop is definitely brown. I cleaned a...
my hens vent feathers have in dried poop on them. Not all her vent feathers are covered in it but it is pretty covered. She seems to be acting normal. Is a dirty vent normal? Thank you all
Hey all, I am having the house painted and I don’t want to have the paint fumes harm the chickens. The chicken coop is about 6-8 feet from the house. Will the fumes hurt the chickens? Should I move them elsewhere? Cover up the coop? If anyone could help me that would be fantastic.
No that one got better I have led to belive this is sour crop. Or it could be all the birds getting so tiny from the ventatlation change. I feed them just standard grower feed from the store.
