    Muddy run -- flooring help/suggestions

Hey y'all! A couple of weeks ago we finally moved our two "og" hens to their new coop and run. The coop is a small prefab, and the run is one of those metal ones that you have to assemble; a tarp is covering one section, but we plan on getting another to cover the section their coop is under...

Follow-up on sick hen -- still looking for advice

Omg, thank you so much!! After looking at other pics of fowl pox on here, I do really feel like it might be that! Which is oddly relieving, to me.

Follow-up on sick hen -- still looking for advice

Absolutely, that's a really good point... Thank you so much!! We live in the southeastern US, so definitely moist, and we live near a river/creek. We've also got a pond in our yard from the previous owners that we are looking to fill in. Usually we let our birds free-range while supervised...

Follow-up on sick hen -- still looking for advice

Ahh ok, thank you! If her eye is looking better, should I still put the ointment on it, or would it be a safe bet to just let it try to heal on its own? I ask because this is still a stressful time for her, so I want to avoid adding to it as much as possible! I'll see if I can get a hold of the...

Follow-up on sick hen -- still looking for advice

Continuing from my last post, I've been just trying to make sure she's getting enough nutrition. Two days ago was scrambled eggs with crushed egg shells for protein and calcium, yesterday was mealworms and crickets for protein, and today was scrambled eggs with egg shells again. All three days...

    Isa Brown? NH Red?

Both of these gals came with our new house in December, and the previous owners didn't leave any details, unfortunately :/

    Isa Brown? NH Red?

Yes, brown eggs all around! And ahh, yeah, those are the 3 breeds I keep circling around!

    Isa Brown? NH Red?

Hey y'all, I've been trying to figure out for the longest what breed my bossiest girl is! Her name is Chocobodia (Bo for short). She looks like so many breeds I find online, lol. In two of the pictures is our other og girl (defo Isa Brown, right?) who we call "Lady", but her full name is "Lady...

    Sick new hen

I just went out to watch her and gave them some "moist" crickets and mealworms. She ate it right up! Then she went and drank water for a good minute. Aaand then pooped, which looked normal! I feel like for the most part, if she's not eating, then she's loafing out :/

    Sick new hen

We're in the near-coastal part of North Carolina right now! And... lesson learned :') I have her and flockmate quarantined in our old coop and run, and a good ways from our other two hens, and not letting anyone free-range during the quarantine. Her flockmate laid an egg today! She seems to be...

    Sick new hen

Ok, so on Sunday we bought two new Isa Browns that we were told are both 10mos old... One of them is in great shape, full plumage, bright red comb and wattles, drinking, eating, etc. The other one... she looks like she's been through it. It was our first time buying chickens from anyone, and...

    New Member!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We bought our first home in Dec, and it came with 3 hens! (2) How many chickens do you have right now? Right now, we have 4. One of the original 3 died in February (suspected old age), and we got two new ones on Sunday...
