Hello all, I could use some help as this is my first time with pigs.
Miss Delilah was bred Feb 9th verifiably, but that is the only date I can definitely say she was. Because of that I assumed she was pregnant and marked her due date between May 29 and June 7.
Well June 7th came and went and...
It definitely was. He couldn’t really move his head because of it so I needed to do a lot of assisting.
He’s doing great now, warming up and fluffing up. Thank you all so much for your help 😭♥️.
I made this video with all of my footage, welcome to the world Highlander
♥️
As of 6:15am cst we have a baby. He seems to have absorbed the yolk but he was still attached to the shell so I put him down to get warm and didn’t pull. Will he free himself?
Yes, they have went down quite a lot, the video makes that one vein look much angrier than it looks in real life. I’ve just been chipping away when I see shell not connected to the membrane. Is there any instance where I should be pulling the membrane or should I leave all of that to him?
Ok, about 20 minutes to the 48 hr mark and this is where we are at, I’ve been slowly chipping away at the shell where I can making sure to take no membrane away, thoughts?
Thank you! Those photos are really helpful. This is where he is at now. I just moistened his membrane again. He’s still chirping but has started pushing his head out a bit. Hoping he doesn’t get over zealous and rupture a vein.
Ok. 43 hour after external pip update. I removed a little more shell in the air pocket only. I didn’t touch any of the inner membrane. I just used a bit of vasaline to moisten it. Baby is still breathing and chirping. He seems tired. I was surprised to see some pretty chonky veins, especially...
Ok sounds good. Thank goodness for you all, seriously. After losing all of the others I have so much to lose with this little one and you walking me through it is such a blessing. Thank you ♥️😭
