On the left is the “Aunt” to our isa cross it is a hatchmate of the Isabelle Ameraucana rooster.
The middle egg is one of the ISA hens eggs so the “mother”
The egg on the right would be the offspring when you add the two egg laying gene colors together. Or the “Niece” to the blue egg on the...
Thank you, the females did all have slate shanks. The isa cross females are all wheaten and very beautiful. I kept four for myself and gave the others to a friend. I have two that seem Wheaten& dominant white tail feathers and look just like their mother except with pea combs and slate legs. Two...
More pics what I suspect to be a male and female. The two light wheaten chicks seem up both be female and legs are slightly more gray than suspected males but not as gray other suspected females.
Here are chick colors at about 6 weeks, looks like makes combs are turning slightly red.
Was wondering if the slate shanks are female? This observation seems to hold true with the leghorn crosses. Wondered if this would be the same for this cross?
The yellow/white chicks turned out to be...
Updated:
at about 10weeks definitely apprsrs to be a cockerel. I have noticed the legs color on males being white and females being slate gray like Ameraucana father. Attached is picture of sibling of later hatch that is female (6wks) to show her leg color.
Yes this one and another have much more pronounced compared to siblings. I see the small bumps on side but this one’s comb is as big as some of the single comb brooder mates from a bcmXbcm. I’m guessing it and the other may be a cockerel then. Thank you for the help.
The cross is Ameraucana Roo x white leghorn (Hoovers). This cross was intended to re-create the SBEL. I expected all pea combs and that’s what he has produced so far. Wanted to share this pic of 3-4 week old, typical color white with a few black specks but this comb looks suspicious. Either a...
Interesting, thank you for the quick response! I’ll have to read up on that, you wouldn’t happen to have a guess of what they could look like? I’m actually happy, they will be a different color other than black with all the marans crosses most of the chicks we currently have are black.
2nd...
Here are some pics, there are a couple close ups of the two colors side by side.
The black chicks are BCM or olive egger crosses. They all hatched first and removed them before the ISA eggs hatched. So only the light yellow next to the striped or marked chicks. No blacks hatched from ISA...
I have an Isabel Ameraucana Roo over two ISA Brown hens. I was expecting half black and half white offspring based upon searching this topic. This was based off a 2021 post I referenced finding a lavender AM over ISA brown hen.
Does the wheaten affect this? All of my chicks have came out half...
