My feed store had chicks and ducklings today and I picked up a few. I got a sex link and this mystery bantam chick that was being trampled by pekins.
Anyways, the cute little thing had no breed, the store didn't know it either. It's a light grey/blue with dark grey starting feathers. Clean...
Hi everyone!
I'm going to try and get ahold of a chick or two and unfortunately the minimum order for me is 5 :(
So I'm hoping that maybe someone or a few someones who would like a few chicks would be interested in a group order. I live in Yulee right outside of Jacksonville Florida. If you're...
Thanks for the tips! The Milles are my favorite D'Uccles. Is there anyway to tell the genders apart at such a young age?
I'm 20 years old and I'm not doing a 4-h project. However, I'm diagnosed with depression and I'm hating the side affects of my medicine. I'm getting bantam hens mainly as...
Hi guys. Well, I'm counting down the days till chick day at the local feed stores. My parents told me I could get two chicks at that time. I am hoping to get D'Uccle chicks but, I need some help.
Does anyone have some clues or tips to help me pick out D'Uccle pullet chicks? Some pics would be...
Well, I want them to be as free range as possible while also containing them in a safe area and not killing all the grass. I was thinking maybe a 4 foot tall plastic mesh for a fencing that is 150 ft long. If I created a square area out of that it'd give me about 1,406 sqft. If I'm only getting...
Well, it's been a long time since I've been here and after 5 months without chickens I can finally get more. My last four were rehomed to a family that lost their home to a fire. This time I am only getting 2-3 and I want to try and avoid the mistakes I made and innovate a little.
My first...
I have just got ahold if a new white silkie hen. However, she has a few features that I'm unsure of. One is that when I put her on grass she practically freezes, the other is that some of her feathers, especially in her neck are a very fine buff color. Can anyone explain these?
I have a pair of cockatiels for pick up only.
The yellow headed one in the back is a male named Houston. He's not hand tamed but, he does know a few whistles that are pretty cute. I'm sure he could be tamed easily.
The silver one is a female named Amelia after the island we live on. She is...
Well, I'm not sure if mixed species love stories is allowed but, here is mine. My chicks are a little over a month old, and my australorp has fallen in love with my golden retriever. She follows him around and snuggles with him. It's cute because he's a harmless dog, never even barked in his...

yeah : (, I'd call to have it removed but, I think it's such a shame they kill them so I don't. So long as he stays in the pond, my family and I are fine with it.
My babies survived their first night outside. I worried about the cold temps, the alligator in my back yard and the neighborhood HOA hawks. But all was just fine and they're loving their new home, much bigger than a fishtank.
I was having the same issue with my barnevelder chick. I just used treats and let her get used to standing on my hand while it was on the ground. Slowly I'd lift my hand up and over time she's gotten to where she flies to my shoulder. Just takes patience.
Fernandina beach in agriculture and resendtial 1. You have to get a permit from the city manager, easy as writing an e-mail.
I was allowed up to 5, it wasn't specified if I could have a rooster.
Today I was trying out different treats to see which ones my 3 liked best. It was a no for yogurt, carrot, grape, tomatoe and green beans. BUT, they love reeses puffs
I know they're not very old yet but, today I took my 3 chickies to the beach. It was a nice sunny day and I made a little sand castle around an area for them. They were a bit clueless until the 'Smart One' figured out what sand was for. Dust Baths! : D, they went insane rolling around in sand...
