Depends what you call foraging.
I do maple syrup and hoping to start birch syrup. Raspberries, saskatoons, blue berries, goose berries, hazelnuts. I know lots of people pick swamp tea as well here.
am still waiting for the morels to come up.
also hoping for a good season of chantrelles this year, last season i got a grand total of 0 pounds of them. the year before must of got close to a 75-100 or so lbs
hoping to find some morels this year.
last year found those early or Verpa bohemica mushrooms that look like morels but are not. no shortage of them.
my field guide said they where edible (with some caution same as morels) but did not want to risk it. later we talked to a neighbor up there...
Does anybody know about horse mushrooms? Think we found one. (My grandpa's mom used to pick them.) It did not stain yellow by the way. Also smells like anise/licorice.
Thank you, i did some research seems the issue with them is eating them under cooked. My neighbour told me to cook them very well done. Still not sure if i will mess with it. A porcini he called them turns out to be king bolete name or penny bun.
