I am so sorry. I bet your flock is sad, too. Are you going to get a new rooster?

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Congratulations! We also have a RIR named Peanut (or Peeny Penny, yes most of my chickens got multiple names) (who should be laying soon since that Butter, who is guessed to be the same age as Buttercup, who, has laid her very first egg just a few days ago), but she's not laying yet.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Runner is SO much better since Wednesday, the second day since we move the two shrubs (we planted two shrubs in the chicken coop for decoration, but our chickens just ate all of it's leaves and dug it's roots out, so we moved them out) out. She has been digging and scratching a lot more lately...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Is there something wrong with my eyes or is the first bee partially green? She's so fluffy!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Yeeep! Buttercup laid her very first egg yesterday! I guess this declares that she is the oldest in the three chicks we bought (who all turned out to be pullets,). Buttercup is a Sapphire Olive Egger, but I can tell her egg from Flawie the Olive Egger since that her (Butter) eggs look more...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Buttercup (or Butter or Buttercuppy) was a little too lively today. She was jumping up and down just trying to get out of the run and play outside, I was reading by the window (and you could see the chicken coop x run since that it's right next to the window) and Butter kept on accidentally...

Same Good luck! I hope your chickens doesn't become Costco roasted chickens! Maybe give them some ice cream or watermelon? Definitely a lot of water will be needed! It's pretty cool right now in Washington. Right now it's 9:33 PM and it's only 83 degrees outside.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Also today we let our chickens free range in our yard for the whole morning and half the afternoon. Runner still seems a little "worn out", but still much more lively. She will still run when I try to catch. Do you think that maybe she is just not as lively as before because we moved them into a...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

It's possible that chicks may/can die on the way, right? Good luck! :fl

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Today's Monday (right?), so has Pyllis (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) chicks arrived? (I really don't know how should I write Pyllis's, i don't think that would make sense)

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

How exciting! Can you post a picture of them when they're here? How many chicks did you order? Do you know all their breeds?

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Not really. The "crumbly" egg's egg shell is the same hardness as the other eggs, even a little harder.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Also I found a lot of her feathers today in the coop and the run. I guess she may be molting, and she definitely lost weight. She used be as heavy as GreyWhite (who is the heaviest), now probably only 3/4 the weight. She doesn't eat much either, just a few bites and some water.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Also when I feel GreyWhite, my leader hen's crop, it's very soft, a little liquidy. When I feel Yellowie, my bottom hen (who was at the very bottom before our three new chicks came along), when I feel her crop, it's much harder, but still a little soft. Is there a problem with that? When I...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Sure. Runner is a Gold Laced Wyandotte that is 2 years old, born on March 14 (or 15), 2019. And I'll post a picture of her egg today.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Yup, I definitely know how you feel. Biggie, my California White (some people describe this breed of chickens 'flighty') loves to take rode trips on her own. In fact, she laid her first two eggs under my neighbor's house (there's a big gap). She flew over so many times I don't remember the exact...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Runner's egg is not soft-shelled, but her eggs are looking kind of 'crumbly' (by 'crumbly I mean not smooth, but in shape), but her eggs are bigger than before. Any suggestions of why or any problem that may have caused that?
