Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I know this has been quite a while ago, but I saw it when someone else responded! My answer is "Yes...and that's why I've got so many chickens." :gig

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I've read a time or two, on here, that cats have killed full grown chickens, but I've never seen it! We've got a lot of barn cats running around and get some big toms with them. I would think in the last ten years we would've had a problem with cats if we were going to  Probably not a...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Ah, well, that does make sense. I've got a hen in a 3x6 ish wire cage at the moment and when I feed and water her I like to sit at the door and watch her. She does a couple light pecks and then a hard peck that sends food out of the bowl. She's quite fast so I can't exactly tell what is going on...

Categorized as "exploratory"...Do they mean they were exploratory or they possibly were just misses?

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Yeah, they all are pretty unconcerned when the dogs are around. Only these young ones actually run to or behind them. I suppose there's a reason, I just don't know what that is yet :)

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I love watching chickens peck at food! They seem so precise and imprecise at the same time. Nice video. Does that lavender orp have nice feathering? She sure seems to. Mine are all a bit unkempt and scraggly looking. I did some poking around on here and read that the lavenders can have what I...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

Don't mind the mess, but I was feeding the dogs last night and the "curious bunch" that are my 5 month old pullets decided to come and see what the commotion was about. Course I fumbled around long enough getting my phone out I only caught two of the six that had ventured up. These...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I feel a bit silly about the whole tetanus bit. I didn't realize how ridiculous it was to not get it until I looked it up. Also, didn't realize that I needed to keep it up to date. Luckily, I talked to Shad and the others at the cafe. They are the reason I went and got it.

I feel the same way about needles, though I ended up needing a tetanus shot last fall :hmm Ouchies. But I've never had a flu shot or the flu...maybe I should knock on wood.

I have run into her a few times. She was talking about making sauerkraut and was nice enough to agree to let me pick her brain about it. Thanks, again :)

Thanks, Shad. Well, I'm not the biggest chatter box, but I'd be happy to participate if you did, Val! In the meantime, hopefully no one minds me poking around in theirs  :p

Ha, I did indeed. I've been trying to find a new place to hunker down, so I'm just bee-bopping around until I do, I guess.
