I have one of those heat plates set up wall mounted behind their coop perch connected to a thermo-cube that turns on @ 32F or 0C. That way if they are cold they can find heat but otherwise they are at outside temps.
LOL - My dad used to say he forgot more than I knew (when I was young)! History is written by the victors and they often leave out the "Less noble" things they did.
Curious - so what criteria do you (or anyone else :) ) use to select a keeper. I ask cause I have 4 Roo's I never intended to have (thanks TSupply) . I might consider keeping one or two but they would be integrated in with the 9 hens.
I have got them to change by putting the ceramic eggs in another box so it must have to do with where they see the eggs ; but they all go to the same box
Must be something in the air. I caught two of mine doubled up in "the " nest box (they have four but they all use just the one :rolleyes:). How both got facing out is a mystery as they were sized for single bird usage
