Definitely go, if you ever get the chance. It’s totally worth it. The sense of community, the empowerment, the music and the dancing is so worth it. And who can forget the drag queens! Any protesters seem so small compared to how bright we all shine on pride. As I’m sure you can assume, you...

It’s a huge disappointment that we still have to worry about our safety for just existing (not just us queer people) in 2025. Worst of all, it seems like we’re going back to even scarier times

Yeah, I’m really glad people still feel comfortable expressing who they are. Hope that won’t change soon

That’s great! I’m so glad you feel comfortable to come out, it must be a huge relief :hugs . While I can’t speak for others, I love some good news in the middle of a rather sad day, week, whatever

Interesting, I do betadine soak once, and then Vaseline daily. All the seramas last year had SLM, but after that treatment it cleared up on all of them. It has not come back for anyone, other than Foureira and her son. Not sure if I can find either treatment here, but I’ll be on the lookout

Indeed. Foureira seems very happy and healthy, even though her feet are pretty terrible. I take care of them as much as possible. I have never touched her son, he is too wil. I worry how that will turn out with age:hmm

Adding to the last: I now believe Fig/Fern is her biological son as well, as he’s also got pretty bad SLM. No other birds have any SLM at all, so I’m pretty sure there’s a genetic component to their condition

Very glad to hear! Yes, she’s at the very bottom. Unfortunately her genetic SLM acts up almost all the time, which gives her limited mobility. I try to help as much as I can, and Foureira tries her best to avoid the pecks, but it’s almost impossible to avoid them all

Hope I’m not taking away from the sad news about aart, but I got those pictures. Photo one is the little bump, photo two is the other side. As you can see, it’s just a tiny spot that is swelling. The brow bone is tick, but that’s just a serama thing. Unfortunately, it looks like the little bump...

Thank you for letting us know, Sally. I was thinking about her yesterday, hoping she had started posting again. This is very sad news. I will miss her posts, as well as her small but meaningful presence on our little thread. My condolences to her family and friends

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Yeah, this is definitely a small bump, rather than general swelling. Thank you. You’re right it will definitely take time. She was amazing, and I still haven’t really processed that she’s gone

Thank you. She was an absolute star, and brought so much joy into my life every time I saw her raising a brood

    LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Oh, you don’t know how glad I am to read that! The stress from all the losses has really been getting to me lately. This year I’ve lost more birds to diseases and heart issues than in all my chicken keeping years combined. It’s definitely been hard. I’ll try to get a photo tomorrow, as it’s very...

Never thought of that! Figured that letting him keep all his feathers would help his ability to manoeuvre around, and as such, would avoid those situations. Clearly figured wrong

Does a tiny yellow bump (doesn’t really look like a pimple, and it doesn’t look painful) always mean coryza? Foureira has one right over her brow There have been no additions to the chickens for years now, so I don’t see how anyone could have caught it. The last additions were the seramas...

Sounds smarter than my guy. I was really worried he’d crash land on the windows, so I always covered them when he was out. His solution? Crash land on the walls:he
