Thank you so much! This was very helpful! I didn't know that it means the balance is off if it's smelly. I'm excited to start composting!

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

Okay, so I will probably add compost to my soil (I will need to use bagged compost) and maybe a little fertilizer. I will have my potting soil from last year, so if I add compost to that, will it restore all the nutrients it lost from some things I grew in it last year? Also, I have have bagged...

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

I would love to try composting at some point! I can't do a pile since I don't want to attract any kind of pests, as I only have my backyard to put it in. I would probably do something like the picture below. Anyways, I was thinking I would start my garden first and then try composting later...

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

Okay, so I'm thinking that based on the advice that everyone gave (which was very helpful!) I might have the peppers in the front were the sun will be facing them, then lettuce, then the tomatoes. The tomatoes will be on the edge like some people said. I will grow the lettuce early, before I...

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

I like the tepee, although I don't think I have enough stakes to make one for all the tomato plants. I do know what you mean about the extra texture/shape at the joints, though! Thank you for your advice!

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

Okay, thank you! I have some tall sticks made out of bamboo that I could tie the tomato to. Would those work? Or should I get something else?

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

I like the idea of having the lettuce under the squash\zucchini! I always thought that they needed a lot of space, but I might be wrong. I would love to try that!

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

Thank you! I did not mention this before, but I can only have one bed because of space constraints. I think I will change my plan and put the tomatoes on the edges or corners, like you said. Cucumbers could be fun to grow on trellis ed!

Okay, thank you, I won't do strawberries. Pole beans do sound like a good idea to grow! Thank you for the recommendation

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

Okay, maybe I won't have the lettuce behind the tomatoes. Maybe I will have peppers in front, then lettuce, then tomatoes so the lettuce isn't as blocked by the pepper plants than they would be by the tomatoes.

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

I was also thinking of during strawberries after my lettuce. Although I think strawberries are the kind that come back every year, and I don't know if I would want them in my garden next year.

What do you think of my garden layout and some gardening questions I have

I hadn't thought of green beans! I like that idea! Although since my lettuce might be in the back, behind my tomatoes, will they be okay with a little shade?
