Bertha died last night.
I have only one hen left now - Percy. I will try taking her to the veterinarian soon to see if anything is wrong with her.
I do not want Percy to live alone, but I do not think I can go through losing any more chickens. Because of that I do not think that I will be able...
I am currently looking for a veterinarian in my area, and am also looking at the veterinarians suggested to my by others such as BarnyardChaos. Out of curiosity, do you guys think you could read this article and see what you think of it? I am doubtful as to how useful this person's advice is...
We gave her the Tylan for two weeks (from May 7th to May 21). It has not made any difference - in fact, I believe her symptoms may be slowly worsening. She is having more trouble breathing, and her breathing is sometimes louder. She still sneezes loudly also.
In the first week we used the...
How much Tylan soluble powder do I put in their water?
How do I know that she has gotten the full dose, since I am not giving it to her directly? My hens never drink the whole gallon of water. Does it matter that she doesn't drink all of it?
Also, does it taste bad, like Tiagard? Would I need...
Is this dosage for Tylan injectable? I got a little confused about the dosage.
Because the Tylan on Jedds Avian (https://jedds.com/products/tylosin-powder) says dose is 1 teaspoon (5 grams) per 1 gallon of drinking water for 7 consecutive days. Is this the correct dosage and treatment time? It...
The last day we gave Bertha Tiagard was Saturday 4/27/2024. Since then, Bertha’s symptoms have decreased significantly. She sneezes occasionally, and around the same time when she sneezes she will wheeze a little. Otherwise she is fine.
Is it okay to continue giving her Tiagard for a few more...
I bought Tiagard tonight. Is it okay to give it to starting tomorrow? Because I just finished giving her the dewormer.
What is the dosage for Tiagard? How many days do I give it to her and how often a day do I give it? She weighs 4.6-4.8 lbs.
This the product I...
I did not give her any dewormer today. The symptoms seem to be coming back again. I feel like she is worse than before the treatment.
I am wondering if I messed up on dosage: The first three days I gave her 1.5 mL (she is a 4.6-4.8 lb chicken) and the last three days I gave her 2 mL of...
Would it have any bad effects if we did a second round of dewormer 10 days from now just to be sure?
I was wondering: should I deworm the other 2 hens? They have not shown any symptoms yet. However there is supposed to be a lot of rain in my area soon and unfortunately my chickens end up...
4/20/2024 Update: It has been 6 days since she is on dewormer. Her symptoms (loud sneezing, wheezing, difficulty breathing) have mostly gone away. She still does quiet sneezes a little here and there but no longer sneezes really loudly. I don't hear any wheezing or see her holding her beak open...
I am currently giving the Safeguard Fenbendazole to Bertha. I also found another antibiotic on amazon called Tiagard. I think Tiagard is for Mycoplasma...
Would this work for the respiratory medicine (Tylan/Tylosin)? Or should it be medicine with Tylosin/Tylan as the only ingredient?
All in One Powder
Thank you everyone for your responses and advice!
Also, how long will it take for us to see if it she is getting better? If she doesn't get better in 5 days, should we do a second round of Fenbendazole? Or stop giving Fenbendazole and give her the Tylan?
