Negotiations with the Sunshine Corporation are promising: Today there was a chance for a test-run of their new incubator model »Sunny« on my patio:
So far she is sitting on four eggs, but not fully committed yet.
:pop
The new company »Sunshine« has recently joined the market for high-quality incubators. Supplies are very limited and i am pulling lot's of strings to acquire their premium model »Sunny«…
Meanwhile in Big Chimney, the duck-house has turned into a hen-house: Milka is stealing straw and eggs from...
… and i fell asleep at the wheel again. At the moment i feel like i have bitten off more than i can chew…
I did a quick check on the eggs this morning and its not looking good. No internal pips, no movement except for one of the eggs i had found in the dux house and could not figure out who...
I am planning on make, edit, upload and post a candle video this evening. - If i don't fall asleep on the porch and Sunny must wake me up. - So far i have not seen any movement in these well defined air-cells.
This afternoon the CCI's high temperature alert went off, which means that the eggs are producing a lot of their own heat now. I have not seen movement in the air-bubbles so far, but also i haven't had the time to thoroughly candle. Too much grass to cut, potatoes to weed and mulch and still...
Y'all said rat-snake but my neighbor claims you were wrong: He says it is an Eastern Indigo Snake. It was too long to be an Eastern Black Rat Snake, that thing was over 2m (6+') long, longer than i am tall.
I did not kill it, i gave it to the neighbor who released it in his cattle barn to fight...
Milka Duck alerted me to SNAKE in her nest!!!
I was outside, mowing some tall grass when i heart Milka Duck sounding the »Stranger Danger Alert« Quack. Dropped the weed whacker on the spot and ran into the dux-house.
Milka was standing beside her nest, scared and looking for help when she saw...
So, here is what's going on:
Buffzilla is sitting on five eggs, marked with an "x"
Milka Duck is stitting on ten eggs, which i could mark today with an "o" while she was outside throwing drakes left and right.
Darkbill Duck's nest contains at least twelve eggs, she was outside together with...
Muscovies might be different, but when Buffzilla, Milka or Tweedledee go outside, they loudly announce that they are outside and broody. I got call from miles away, people asking if my dux are doing okay…
DarkBill is also different, i have never seen her leaving her cardboard box ever. But she...
I was wearing a hat yesterday when i walked into the dux-house, a simple brown hat to protect my billiard-ball from the sun and everybody want crazy. After taking that hat off they recognized me and complained »You Quackiot! You scared the eggs out of us!«
I found four incubated eggs in the duck house today of which i have no clue to which duck they belong. They were smack in the middle of the duck house, away from all four sitting ducks. It was none of Buffzillas eggs, they are all marked with a blue(ish) "X", Tweedledee and Dark Bill...
Another quick update: There's an egg that is being kicked out by Darkbill Duck for the last three days. Candeling it looks promising too, with a well defined air-cell and i may fool myself but i think i saw movement. No idea why she does not like that egg, anyways it is now in the CCI as number...
Quick candling while taking a break from grass mowing revealed that the remaining eight eggs are looking promising: Well defined air-cell and definitely movement in one of the green eggs.
That went weird today: Buffzilla knew what i wanted to do to her eggs and took a bath right before i came into the duck house to serve "broody soup". - Have you ever tried to write with a sharpie on something wet?
I need to candle the eggs in the CCI but i am too tired, did too much in the...
Now i feel like an idiot! 😳 - I have not even though about marking their eggs. But there will be two issues: Only Buffzilla is trusting me with her eggs, the others will try to rip at least my fingers off.
And Blanca will eat the sharpie…
