My birthday was Sept. 1. This has been a terrible birthday for me. Still can't eat anything solid, or with much flavoring. Even vanilla Boost, is too harsh. All flavors of Pedialyte burn like crazy. Still, there is some improvement, but it's slow going. At this stage of things, chicken...

I've had a real rough couple of days. I was prepared for nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, etc. All the usual suspects of chemo. Nope. This stuff has seriously chemically burned my whole mouth, lips, throat... Blisters, and burned, peeling skin. I went to the cancer hospital for it this morning...

With all the high humidity from the rain, and the heat, it's wreaking havoc on our stored feed. We get fresh feed, and in a week, it's moldy. No, it's not expired, nor does it happen all year. I'm thinking along the lines of something like Damp Rid in the bins, without letting it touch the...

The IRS is infuriating. We should have gotten our tax return long ago. At first, they claimed it had already been paid. Nope. They reviewed it, then flagged it for fraud. Every 60 days, we get a letter stating that it's under investigation for fraud, and won't be paid until the...

It's been pouring rain here for about an hour. It has cooled things off nicely.

Dh is upset with himself. Day before yesterday, the power flickered on, and off a couple times, then stayed on. What he didn't notice was that one of the fans in one of the coops, reset itself when the power flickered. They're on digital thermostats. That one fan didn't come on, and we lost...

There are those that can co-habitate with nature, and thrive. There are those that can not. Usually it's the can nots that are a PITA.

I agree with not being able to start over very well, at our age. Yes, I am aware at the market value of our home, and considered selling, but like you, I can't find anything comparable for the price, that we would like as well as this place, so there's no advantage. We too, will be riding...

Sadly, most (not all) other countries are experiencing things just as bad, or worse, than we are here.

Yesterday was a busy day for me. I vacuumed, and mopped, which is quite a bit of work in this house. The bending, and stooping tend to make my back ache some. To add to that, Monday I ordered a nice set of pool chaise lounge chairs, with a matching little table, for our pool. When we moved...

Growing up, my mother didn't allow the doors in our home(s) to remain shut for extended periods of time. Of course you could close the bedroom door to get dressed, or for privacy, but when the need was over with, the door was to be opened. Same thing with the bathrooms. Once done in the...

Sally, with the current economic situation in our country, a LOT of people are seriously stressed. It's become a choice between which bills to pay, and how many groceries they can afford. In 2 states, they've gone in and exterminated all the poultry, meaning that those people can't even...

I went to my cardiologist's office for my stress test. His office will call tomorrow with the results. I did the treadmill, not the chemical test. Yeah, I was able to do it without a hitch.

Today was not too good of a day. My cat, Emma, died. She was an orange tabby. She was around 14 years old, as best as we can figure. She's had cancer for awhile now. Last month she began going downhill. She was not in pain, and passed peacefully in her sleep.

I find I have to remind myself occasionally to keep my feet, and eyes pointed in the same direction when walking.

loves, I sort of feel the same way, but it was rain, rather than heat that prevented me from getting out as much. Yes, this summer has flown by. It seems like only yesterday that the grands got out for summer vacation, and it's just about over.

penny, I had to look up Psoriatic arthritis. I've known plenty of people with arthritis, but not necessarily that particular type. Now that they know what's going on, they should be able to manage it better for you.

Not exactly, but she's always about 3 weeks earlier than the chickens. At least she will have all her new feathers grown in, before the first cold snap. The chickens, on the other hand, won't start until at least the end of this month, or beginning of next month. Usually they get all their...

My duck, Quacker Sparkles, is in molt. She's NOT a happy camper. For the next couple weeks, that means feathers all over the patio, and in the pool. No, they're not hard to clean up. It also means Quacker Sparkles now has more "attitude" than normal.
