I woke to at least 5 inches on the ground already! We are supposed to get up to 10! I am so done with the snow!!!!!
On a happy note. I have fertile cochin eggs in the bator! Mottled, Columbian and Mille Fleurs
Yes What's kickin' They started hatching Sunday and finished yesterday. I started out with 29 eggs, one of those candled clear so that left me with 28. Out of the 28 I ended up with 24 the 25th one started zipping and never finished. I should have intervened but I thought he might finish...
So far I have 24 that have hatched and one zipping right now.
I put 23 of them in the brooder. I left one in the hatcher to dry off a little more.
Here are some pictures.
Happy to see our thread is coming back to life! So many people sharing and talking about their chicks is good to see!
I woke up this morning to 2 chicks hatched a day early! Lots of others pipping too. So far 2 more have hatched and several working on it.
I didn't expect any to hatch...
I live just outside Moberly so not too far away.
My coop is now predator proof. We sold our old house last year and when we moved I insisted on building a predator proof coop. At our old house I used a run down storage shed that really needed to be torn down.
You two live in my old stomping grounds! I was born and raised in Jeff City and most of my family is still there.
I used to have Ducks and Geese. I lost all of them a few years back to several late night coon attacks! I sure miss them!
This thread used to be a pretty active thread but it seemed back then they all knew each other.
Let's talk about our chickens and if we show them, breed them or just have them for fun.
I am a bantam cochin fan myself. I breed show quality bantam cochins in Buff Columbian, Columbian and...
I saw an ad on Craigslist for the first sale of 2013 in Keytesville! It will be held this weekend Jan. 12th and starts at noon.
I will be there and have tons of birds to sell!
I just answered you on the other MO thread but I've got more info...I don't know if they start in January but they are held the second Saturday of every month-don't know why they wouldn't/couldn't start January. Here's a phone number if you want to try calling for more information 660-413-3250...
Does anyone have the 2013 sale calendar for the Keytesville auction?
Last year I know they started up in January. I have a lot of bantam cochins to take to the sale when they start up and need to get my plans made.
Thanks!
Tony
Happy New Year!
Welcome to the Missouri thread! Good luck with your hatch! That first hatch is the most anxious time at least in my experience. But they are all fun and addicitive!
Hi cluckyCharms
I think it is ok, as I have seen it done on the mille fleur page and the cochin page. Cochins are my favorites so those are really the only threads I follow. I follow this thread because US Missourians have to stick together.
Most breeders wouldn't allow conjugal visits due to...
Is anyone looking for any bantam cochins? I wanting to scale back on my cochin varieties and concentrate on Columbian, Buff Columbian, Silver Penciled, Mottled and Mille Fleur.
So I have some cochin pairs, and trios for sale.
I have 7 month old trio splash cochins, I have a pair of blue...
Hello and Welcome to BYC! I agree with the others that you can't just stop at 1, 2 o3! It is very addictive! We started with one little pekin duck and grew to 4 ducks, 50+ chickens, 2 geese and 5 peafoul! We now only have cochins which are my absolute favorite breed and and going to start...
