Earlier this summer we had a lot of rabbits hanging around the house and the (mostly) corn fields nearby. They attracted several hawks that hung around. I walked onto the back porch one day and saw this Red Tailed Hawk swoop down and catch a vole, or field mouse, next to the foundation. I got my...
I had a pair of Brown Thrashers that nested in a thicket close to my place last summer. I put some peanuts and sunflower seeds in a place where they could get them and they definitely took advantage of it. They are smart birds and have an amazing repertoire of sounds and calls of all different...
It doesn't even have its red belly yet...we have a lot of these in the summer and fall, they come to our suet feeders with their parents and squawk like crazy until they get fed. lol
This little sparrow was near my parking spot at Walmart the other day so I took a couple pictures. Later, I took a closer look and realized he is molting really hard in this picture! He's got pin feathers all over his head, chest, and side and it looks like he has about 2 tail feathers. 😆
I saw this Big Ol' Boy the other day when I was going to work and I thought that he was the same one I got a picture of back in May, but upon closer inspection the color of his face doesn't look quite the same. He was around the same place as the other deer, laying down just above a creek at the...
@mdees88 Maybe I've missed it, but do you have a studio where you take some of these pics or is it pretty natural, like on some white sand or something?? Love all your pictures, just curious about these!
I took this picture in early June on one of the first really hot days we had. There was a group of 6 jakes and this pair had just laid down in some cool shaded grass at the edge of someone's yard.
I was waiting out a thunderstorm in my truck the other day when I saw this Box Turtle crossing the road. It probably had the most and brightest yellow on its shell of any Box Turtle I've seen. I always think the individual shell pieces on the top shell look like hand or footprints that someone...
These are from a couple years ago but same time of year. A Carolina Wren had a nest up under the roof on a deck and I'd watch them bring goodies back to the little ones. This year they're nesting on the deck in a big trash bag with an old blanket in it. lol
I saw this White-tailed Deer the other day and he seemed to just pose for me. I'd love to see him later in the year when he has his full rack, the antlers look like they're coming in pretty thick!
