I just saw that my rattlesnake pole beans, butternut and zucchini squash seeds are breaking through the ground in the garden. Supplies for my drip watering system are on the way.

Sorry your old girl went to the coop in the sky. I need to plant some more marigold seeds. I like to have them scattered all over the garden because they repel pests, or so they say. @pennyJo1960 , I was thinking about your sourdough starter you made for your garden. I wonder if the weed tea...

I dumped all the zinnia seeds I saved last year into a half gallon container and it looks like most of them germinated. There will be lots of color around the house and garden this year. LOL

I've always loved okra for as long as I can remember. My grandma fried them whole and called them Garden Fish. LOL Got gas for the lawnmower and stopped by the store for a box of produce waste. The chickens are snacking on blueberries, strawberries, tomatoes, snap peas, endive and cabbage...

Okra is planted. I direct-seeded in the row I dug out yesterday and have 17 solo cups with okra seeds in them for backup.

That's a good point, @ValerieJ . Some of the girls do lay eggs with weak shells in spite of being fed layer pellets and having access to both eggshells and oyster crumbles. So it's a possiblilty that only broken eggs are being eaten. But over the last week or so there have been a few times I've...

Way to go on the weight loss. I'm down 8 or so in three weeks. My exercise is working in the garden. I'm taking a break now from digging up part of the yard where I'll plant my okra. It's a 25 foot long, 1 foot wide row. I'm having to triple turn it. Dug once to take the sod off the top and...

Oh yeah, I didn't waste the egg that my bad, bad chicken had started to eat. I scooped it up and buried it underneath one of my tomato plants, yolk, white and shell. Maybe it'll help the plant grow.

Thanks, but I was just kidding. I've been on a keto diet the last three weeks, and the only carbs I've been eating are from leafy greens and chives from the garden. I have a lot more energy and less joint pain since I started, and I need to drop pounds to take the stress off my bad knee.

When I checked for eggs this morning I learned that I have an egg eater. I caught her in the act so I chased her off the nest and scolded her. If I catch her doing that again I just might turn her into fried chicken.

I transplanted 8 little leaf lettuce plants into the garden and moved two poppy plants so the plant spacing in the bed was a little better. Then I did some remodeling to my raised bed setup. I repurposed the screened panels that were on the sides of the beds and made a fence out of them. I'll...

Well then, I'm kind of relieved that I didn't miss anything last night. Maybe there'll be another night when it'll be visible here.

I wasn't able to stay awake past 10PM yesterday. I was beat from working in the garden, and sleep seemed to be much more important that possibly seeing the NL. If I missed out again... oh well. LOL

Cool! Now if I can stay awake another 4 or 5 hours... I got out of bed at 4:30 this morning, so it will be a long day.

Nice! I'm going to force myself to stay up as long as it takes tonight so I can see (or photograph) the aurora. I just found the "Night" setting on my Samsung phone, so I'm all set. I looked at the sky last night, at 10, then at 1am and saw nothing. My neighbor across the road showed me pics...

@pennyJo1960 , do those tire planters warm up the soil so you can plant things earlier?

Planting tomatoes will have to wait until tomorrow. I left the tomato plants out in the bright sun most of the day today, and will leave them outside overnight to give them a taste of cool temperatures.

I put 16 currant plants into the ground today. I don't know if I'll have the energy to plant my tomatoes today too, but I might try. There's alway tomorrow...
