Homemade chicken feeder and waterer pics please!

I saw this pic on google and made it at Bunnings before we even got to the counter (large hardware store in Australia). Cost all of $20 :)

I put a lid on the open end at night so it doesnt attract night time vermin.

They enjoy just standing outside the run feeding them so we wanted something outside. We actually got this idea when we built bookshelves for our house. The idea seemed so simple.


So, I bought a piece of vinyl gutter and two end caps. Screwed some holes in it, zip tied it to their run fence and then cut out every other piece of their fencing so they could easily stick their head through. It works great. I only give what I know they will eat in one day. At night when I lock them up I just take the right cap off and spray it out with a hose, refill the next day. Cost about $6 to make. It originally was going to be 8 feet but on the drive home my daughter let it sit all twisted and the gutter was warped on one end, so I had to cut it off and make it 4-5ft, can't remember.

Omg that's genius, I have been racking my brain about feeders. What do you use for a waterer? And do they just not have food in the coop at night?
 
I built this bucket feeder using 3-3" stretch 90s, works great for the hens. Only issue I've seen with it is my rooster(see profile pic) isn't a fan of eating out of it. I think it's a little tight with his comb and waddle. Any one else have issues with that?

This is the final design of a feeder I made. (The original build is below.) I literally went to Lowes and started putting different pvc parts together until I liked it. Took it home and tried it out then had to add the threaded end pieces. The pvc openings was too short and smooth so feed literally just poured out. Adding the threaded connectors added the necessary length and traction to keep the feed from just falling out. The top I had was too difficult to get off. So when I moved it to our new tractor since I had to add a 45 and extender so it could be filled from the outside of the new shorter tractor I added a screw on top.



As you can see the chickies love it! And I love it because they only have to be fed every few days and hardly any food goes to waste. No food goes to waste since we switched to oats and got away from corn. My chickies don't like corn at all and will rake it out to get to the good stuff!


I got a piece with a port on the bottom so that I could add a removable plug that can be removed to drain in case it's needed. Also none of these pieces have been glued. I just let friction and gravity hold it together that way mods are easily done.

I'm still brainstorming waterer ideas. We used nipples and a bucket but the chickens want to sit and poop on the lid. Plus with our new shorter tractor I'd like something I could fill from the outside but that wouldn't add too much weight.
