Oh, he made such a nice setup for your yard!Sorry you broke your humerus. Hope you are healing well and fast.
Both my coops are under shaded trees. I am thinking abt putting a shade cloth over the rest of the run to keep the area cool. If it's not a dog, my husband doesn't care. He doesn't know anything ant chickens but often find himself giving advice on how to deal with my chicken eventhough my mom raised chickens all her life and I grew up around chickens. I find it amusing since his advice do not translate to chickeneseBut he built the coop, I can't be too rough on him.
I bought the small one from TSC and he built the big one.
Since this pic was taken, he changed the roost bars to 2×4 and cut the back of the coop added chicken wires to create more ventilation.

My mom taught me to not say anything when DH gives advice or doesn't do a job to my liking -- compliment him instead. DH's like to be appreciated and eventually find themselves enjoying chickens! My DH never lived on a farm like me but he learned on his own what to do for our chickens, he knows when they are ready to lay an egg, when they are broody, when they look cold or hot, when they want him to escort them to the coop at night, and one loves him so much she jumps to sit on his lap. She won't sit on me!
We gave away our 1st small feed store coop and now I wish I kept it. It wasn't made out of quality materials but it was a good design for Silkies. If we marine painted it and replaced chicken wire with sturdier hardware wire it would've been ideal but we had so many remodel projects to do on the property! I had to retire before we could even have time for chickens.
