Here are my Slate turkey poults at a day old.... The parents of these guys are a pair of Splash Slates. I have a few eggs in the incubator which ought to hatch in a few days which are from a Splash tom and a Self-Blue hen. Out of 6 eggs I now have got my starter flock for my new farm here (I do not bring live birds onto my property, even if they were my own, I just incubate), I got 2 blacks (if I remember right they will not have black legs like a Black Spanish), 3 Splash and 1 Self Blue.
A Black. All the white will go away.
This silvery-gray one with the white face will be a Splash
This poult is a Self Blue. Note that there is not the dark silver-gray 'cap' on the head nor any dark colouring on the body. It does have a light silver-grey on the body and until it really dried out I thought this was another Splash.
These are 2 of my breeding birds at my friend's house where they have been for the last 3 years since I did not have a good place to keep them. These are both Splash. You can mostly tell on the tom's wings in this photo and barely on the tail of the hen. She is definately not as Splash as he is.
You can see the Splash on the tom better in this photo. I didn't know I was going to show these pics to anyone, so they are not ideal.
This is the Splash hen. Do not ask me what happened to her tail feathers. I don't know!!!! The Self Blue hen which was setting on a nest was eaten by a coyote the day after this photo was taken so I do not have one of her. But I took 4 of her eggs from the nest, incubated 3 of them as there was a toenail puncture or something in one and they should hatch in a few days.
