How many Sq. ft. per duck?

Hey all, Im new to this and as much as I search I cannot find how many square feet I want in my coop. I am allowing a maximum of 5 ducks ( to make this possible and not go over, I am only going to make enough space in there for 5

In the day they will free range, right here in our backyard. lol

Breed, most likely Ancona. or another large type, not muscovy or bantams (correct term?)

also, do they roost? thanks!
 
It all depends on how much time you think they will have to spend inside. If you have especially harsh winters or a lot of rain then you will want larger. 2.5-4 sq ft per bird of floor space if they will NEVER have to be locked up for the day. 6-8 sq ft if they may have to spend the day inside due to weather or you not getting home in time to lock them in etc. These are the minimum space requirements. Remember to take out space for feeders, waterers and nest boxes.

Muscovy are the only breed that roost. Anconas are a medium breed. Bantams are the little bitties, like calls.

Decide where you are going to get them (not a ton of Ancona hatcheries out there) and I'd advise getting sexed ducklings or juveniles, that way you won't end up with a bad ratio and have to deal with rehoming extra drakes.

i want to get ducklings, i know who I would get the anconas from.

I always let my birds out wether i am home or not, so 2.5 - 4 sq ft would be fabulous.
