Pullet or Roo?
I picked this little "pullet" up 3 days ago. I am having such a difficult time deciding pullet or roo. What do you guys think?? I'm assuming 3-4days old.
I wanted another female BR because I love my original one, so I got another "pullet" and turned to be a male. Hoping I'm not...
This is our first hatch from our own eggs and is finally 6 weeks old... and my husband and I have differing opinions on gender. Haha, can anyone help us figure out if I'm right?...or if he's right? Thank you!
Hey I’m New to chickens and I have 4 barred rock chicks that are 5 1/2 weeks old. They all look about the same and I bought them all as female from a hatchery. it doesn’t look like they have any waddles growing and have pretty small combs and also have a very dark wash on their legs but I’ll...
Pretty sure I know the answer but always good to get another’s opinion. They’re almost 5 weeks old but have pretty prominent bright combs and wattles already coming in. One seems to be getting more tail feathers like my buff orpington ladies. One cockerel we can handle but two I’m sure will lead...
I know it is too early to tell, but this chick has a lot of the visual markers that indicate it is male! This chick was vent sexed and labelled a pullet.
Barred Rock male chicks have the following:
1) A large white spot on head
2) Less black on legs
Barred Rock female chicks have the...

I am new to raising chickens and recently got this barred rock with a few other chicks. I have done some research to try and help me identify this little chick and would like outside opinions!
I have a barred rock chick is only 3 weeks old but I have a bad feeling it’s a roo. Is there anyone that can tell?
Update: yes upon further inspect of my australorp chick it is actually a barred rock chick. This is the australorp. We named them before we were sure which was which and apparently...
So my main little flock of chicks are EE's, and as I've said before, I love mutts. But I did want some diversity in my flock, so I got some Barred Rock chicks last week to add a bit of color. Like many people, I constantly take pics of the chicks to document their growth. But last week the...
Hi!!
So I have been terrible at updating you guys! We got 20 chicks last Wednesday - 11 Barred Rocks and 9 Buff Orpingtons. My husband's coworker took 3 Barreds and 2 Buffs leaving us with 15. We had them in a 40 gallon horse trough and that was NOT enough.. We joked that the Barreds were...
We got several baby chicks from Tractor Supply in a mixed bin. They were mixed with sex and with breed. This is the only Barred Rock or at least I think she is a Barred Rock. I’m a new chicken mom. Will you please help me determine is she is a pullet or a cockerel? She will be 4 weeks in a few...
I got these two birds from our local feed store in the grow-out run at *maybe* 6 weeks old. I know that one is a barred rock, just unsure of the sex. In the second photo, the barred rock in questuon is standing next to a known pullet of the same age. The white-headed chick, I am completely...
hi again,
I’m a newbie. 5 chicks going on 3 weeks tomorrow.
3 Easter Eggers

1 barred Rock
I think the barred Rock may be a boy ~ ??
Any thoughts ??
Thank you
K
My chicks are doing great! They are about two and a half weeks old. I received 30 chicks by mail and so far have a zero mortality rate. This is my first flock ever and I'm learning as I go. I think a few had "pasty butt" which I have addressed. I had their brooder sectioned off to minimize waste...

In the middle of a real normal successful hatch and everything is Peachy Keen. Lots of peeping, lots of unzipping & lots of healthy baby chicks jumping about. We have hatched tons of offspring so all is the norm.
