    Is this normal?

So I have some old laying hens and I just moved my 8 month old pullets in their coop not long ago. All the old ones are hunched up and the younger ones all are normal + energetic. Does anyone know what the issue may be with the older ones?

Chicken with egg bound symptoms but vent check shows there is no egg there!

Hi! I'm worried about one of my chickens. She is acting lethargic and standing by herself. She is looking rather puffy, but I did a vent check but she doesn't seem to be egg bound. She also has poop on her tail feathers. She is starting to stand like a penguin. When I go over to her, she starts...

    Chicken Medications - Helpful Resource

Hopefully this is the right place to plop this information! I've noticed a lot of fellow chicken tenders on here having trouble with obtaining medications like antibiotics, Corid, permethrine, etc. to treat their chickens (especially those rural folks who, like me, don't have access to an...

My hen is acting a bit off...

Hey! My hen Myrdle is acting a bit off. She seems lethargic and quiet. She is also panting a bit and has a pale waddle and comb, but that is probably just the heat. I isolated her with some food and water just to be safe, and she hasn't pooped a lot that I've seen since then. Don't know how much...

Hello all Wingwhakk here, new member I have lots of experience with chickens and ducks

I have raised chickens, rabbits and ducks, for nearly my whole life, I added Geese to our family about 7 years ago. We were hatching about 1,000 eggs a month for several years, and sold eggs to help pay for our animal care. I have lots of knowledge on care, health etc. On Chickens, Rabbits, and...

    Hen/rooster height?

We just got 8 chicks a month and a half ago, 3 roosters and 5 hens (ones a silkie but I have no clue how to sex a silk and the rest wyandotte/silkie mixes). They're so young but the roosters are almost as big and tall as my adult rooster! So my question is, how big and tall do wyandotte/silkie...

    Chickens won’t use coop right

My two Americana hens roost on top of their coop instead of inside their coop. Ever since I introduced them to the coop they refuse to return to the inside and nest at night. At first I’d come outside and pick them up one by one from the roof to put them in the coop. But lately I have given up...

My dad told me this morning that the dogs had gotten one of Cin's chickens, but he managed to save it just in time. I went looking for it to make sure it was okay (and it seems fine, just smells like dog). But then I happened upon my friend here who has a swollen closed eye and some crusty...

Re: Recent Post - Hope it Helps Someone

Posted a number of days ago regarding a sweet hen that suddenly became sick. It wasn't clear what was wrong. She rests in the nesting box mostly, and came out once, but squawked like she was in pain. - I was able to find a chicken vet in Longmont, and they immediately placed my chicken on liquid...

9 month old Ameraucana's not laying!

Pics for reference. My girls were born in January. They free range a couple of hours a day, have access to plenty of food and water, and are happy friendly birds. Now, I know they may not even be ameraucana's, but this is late for any breed. One of my girl's combs just got a little bigger and...

    Puss in my chooks eye.

We have an Australorp that has recently started developing puss in one of her eyes. She’s also been very antisocial and hiding away under our deck when we let them out to free range. I have included two photos. One of her good eye the other with the puss. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
