I have a Broody hatching some eggs and when I went outside to check on her and provide her with fresh water, an egg was crushed. This egg was crushed to the point that I could see the baby inside and see the baby still inside the fluid, but I was able to locate the beak.
This egg also dealt...
We got a letter today from our flat saying they will be turning off the power for 4 hrs for some work on day 17 of incubation for my coturnix quail eggs.
My question is should I worry or will the eggs be ok?
The incubator is insulated in Styrofoam but small and I wasn't sure if I should...
I've been incubating Cayuga Duck eggs for the first time. They were set at around 8pm on the 26th September (today is morning of 24th Oct here). So I'm assuming this is counted as day 28? I have been very worried as since I candled them and put them into lockdown at 8pm on the 21st there has...
I have 7 eggs. 3 hatched today— day 21. But the other 4 just stopped. No pips, peeps, movement, nothing since approximately 12-1pm. It’s 4:22pm now EST. Hatching with a broody. What could possibly be happening? Did they die??? What do I do? First time btw. Thanks in advance!
Hello! New here so I need some advice. I’m incubating chickens for the first time after mainly just doing quail. I ordered eggs on eBay and noticed an egg a little cracked on the outside but thought it’d be ok in the incubator ( might’ve been my first mistake ). Things go smoothly and I go into...
I had a second lavender Orpington go broody the last week of March after my other Orpington was raising chicks. I quick bought eBay eggs (Red blue laced Wyandottes) to put under her. They didn’t ship for a few days and I didn’t receive them till April 4th. My bad mistake for first time shipped...
This is My first time hatching Chicks 🐣 and I recently come across a post that states You don’t count day 1 of incubation until the next day if the eggs where placed in the evening. I placed My eggs March 26th at around 7pm and counted 21 days from that which is April 16th (today) So would that...
Hi guys my broody came off their nest today and I saw through a camera a little crack on one of the eggs is it a pop or a smash?? It’s day 21
It’s the egg that is closest to the broody
This egg is the first pip, and day 21 is tomorrow. Here's a photo of the piece of shell that has fallen off.
I know there is a pip hole here because I can kneel down and just barely see the chick's beak poking out and moving. I've not seen this happen before. Should I intervene?
hello everyone!
I am happy to announce that my first hatch is nearly over! It has been a long and stressful road. From an unclear start date of natural incubation, to a finnicky and somewhat unreliable incubator and thermometer. To begin, I was unsure what the start date of incubation was. Mama...
I have some Easter eggers today is day 21. Yesterday one started to zip and is finally out but is just laying on its back kicking and chirping. It really doesn’t even look like it’s drying yet. It’s been a couple of hours. No one else has even begun pipping. Help or advice
I have 6 eggs that are at day 25. We heard chirping yesterday but as of this morning, none have pipped. Should we be worried? Any suggestions? Can I pick up eggs to listen or candle? I have a still air incubator that I put my own temp/humidity checker in a few days ago. No egg turner. Eggs were...
Most of the eggs pipped today but only one hatched so far so don't be surprised when you see a day 22 thread tomorrow. The chick that hatched is a black sex link brown leghorn mix who has a big crest (for a chick anyway). The temperature has been around 99°F and the humidity has been around 80%...
Hi everyone!!
Just wanted to share a few pics of my newborn coturnix quail :) Just hatched this morning!! Such an exciting day!! Hatch rate was horrible 2/10 as of right now, one is down in the incubator tapping away. Doesn’t matter to me, though, I love the little guys so much!! Hope everyone...
I have a broody hen who's been doing great sitting on the eggs. Yesterday, 4 chicks hatched but I had to remove the chicks because mama was pecking them (2 didn't make it and I'm not sure if the 3rd will survive). One more pipped and was zipping its shell. Came out this morning to check on...
