Day 25! 3 eggs started pipping. Two have hatched. One is still trying but has not absorbed its yolk sack.
This started with a post about what to do with a delayed hatch. This portion is about the late hatching.
Here's the other thread...
We have an egg hatching on the pointy end with yellow fluid leaking out. Day 25 hatch.
It’s not peeping at the moment but it does seem to be breathing.
Reoriented the egg to reduce chance of drowning.
We’ll wait for now but I’d like whatever advice anyone has. Especially if the fluid does turn...
Hi I just incubated 8 eggs, one was an early quitter. When I candled on day 16, all 7 were developed and moving, but one looked noticeably smaller maybe by a few days (but moving with good veins). Fast forward to hatch day and 6 chicks hatched on day 21. The one I had previously noticed as...
Hello, I've been incubating some shipped eggs that I set on 3/7. Out of 24 eggs 15 made it to lock down, 5 hatched on the night of 3/28 within a few hours of each other, 2 more hatched later that same night. I assisted one more 3/29 that was stuck and came out with sprawled legs and labored open...
Hi everybody!
Reaching out for some advice. I’m hoping I’ll at least have one egg hatch but it’s not looking good. I’ve only incubated once before and 2 of 3 hatched.
This time, I had 4 eggs in the incubator, day 21 came, 1 pip, chirpy as…hatching followed within 12 hours. Yay!
Once dried I put...
I have a question for anyone who can answer...
The last four eggs that have hatched, all late, have been pure white quail, and smaller than most that have hatched so far. I have also had to help 2 of them hatch as there were shell issues trapping them in.
The question: is there anything in...
I have a baby chick that has its legs set like he is doing the splits forward ways instead of sideways. He does not open his front foot and it stays curled in. When we work with his foot it seems to hurt him so we stop. We plan on putting him in a splint thing that’ll bring his legs together...
Hey guys, looking for advice.
I set 23 eggs on December 28th. Today is day 23, 18 eggs hatched between day 21 & 22, I candled the remaining 5 for signs of life and sadly lost 4 after lockdown BUT...I still have 1 remaining olive egger that is clinging on, It was very hard to see, but I...
I had a chick who hatched today (on day 24 of incubation) with a little help. I thought all the eggs were goners, but kept them in the incubator just in case. But this morning I noticed a pip in one of the eggs! After a few hours it had pretty much fully zipped around and was trying to finally...
I have an egg that's technically on day 30 (not a Muscovy) while the other two hatched on days 27 and 28. I've included a video to make sure what I'm saying is internal pipping actually is. Because he's so late should I make an air safety hole? Thanks...
I've currently got three healthy hatched chicks in a brooder, but I also have still some three eggs left in the incubator. I'm getting a little worried, because it's about day 21 or 22 and I've heard that, while Quail can be late, 21 is the max? I've managed to candle then because there no...
So my broody hen was sitting on 6 eggs out of the 6, 4 hatched. This was sometime in the middle of last night. Is there a possibility for the other 2 to still hatch? Today is Day 22. Will she abandon the nest to go feed the other chicks?
Today is the 30th day of incubating my duck eggs. One of the eggs internally pipped yesterday (day 29) around 11:00 am. It is 10:00 am now and it still hasn't externally pipped. I've heard it should take 12-24 hours in between the internal and external pip. I'm wondering if I should help, or...
It's day 26 for my 2 eggs and hatch day for the other 2. I have a homemade styrofoam incubator I made and believe the temps went down a few times, so that's why they are probably late. I've been waiting patiently and decided to candle one of the day 26 eggs last night. I can see the chicks back...
My sister and I have been hatching chicks for the season (a sneaky hen hid her eggs too well and by the time we found them they were half way developed). We had moved part of the batch under another hen who was starting to brood, and a few into our incubator. One out of the three eggs in the...
Hello all, I have recently been incubating call ducks and I ran into a lot of problems during hatching. I got eight eggs off of eBay and they all arrived with no cracks but pretty wonky air cells. I let them sit large end up for 24 hours before incubating and 6 out of eight developed (one was...

So we let our broody hen sit on a clutch of eggs, some hers and a few from the guineas. A week ago a single chick hatched. Broody sat for another day or two, then gave up on the rest and has been in mommy mode with the one chick, scratching in the coop all day. Last night at lock up, I heard...
Hi All,
I have three wiggling little ducklings that refuse to pip internally. I candled them and all are alive but im on day 32! I cant tell if they are in the wrong position or what's going on....any help? Do I poke a hole in air cell to look or leave alone?
I have a pullet that decided to go broody in January. Of course, she is a silkie. Go figure. At first I wasn’t going to let her hatch out anything, but this girl was insistent. I remember chicks hatching when I was growing up but that was over 15 years ago. So after spending hours for days...
