I specifically got all female Muscovy ducks to avoid bullies but I soon learned that doesn't keep them from picking on each other. When it is egg-laying season they chase each other daily, sometimes pulling feathers, drawing blood, and almost drowning each other, and I have had to separate them...
All of my Muscovies have some degree of wet feather. They bathe and preen multiple times a day, but it hasn't resolved. It started this spring; they had no issues in the winter. I've read it's not uncommon in Muscovies, but should I be concerned and is there anything I should do to help them?
Hello all! Hope I'm doing this right :)
I've noticed one of my young ducks both of it's wings have been drooping, to the point where the tips will drag on the ground when it walks around. I think this has been going on for almost a week now (I haven't been home enough to notice and no one else...
I've raised ducks for 6 years but roosting is new to me. I am 1 year into raising my muscovy ducks. They are completely independent and live on a large pond surrounded by plenty of trees and snags. They spend most nights roosting on the neighbors dock and free range during the daytime hours. As...
Hey everyone!
I don't know if there is anyone that help, but some thing grew out of concern in the last 2 days. We had a mommy and her 6 ducklings that would always come to my community and eat. We do not own them or anything, they are free to do whatever they want. They just happen to come to...
I have what i think to be two white muscovy ducks about four and a half weeks old, (got them at bomgaars where there were a bunch of different breeds) and Toast the one i think is a male has bald spots around his bill and eyes and dark skin unlike Cricket (my other one) I'm completely new to...
Hi guys.. long time reader first time poster 😬😉
I have 2 Muscovy ducks who are about 2 months old. I have a large dog crate which is close by the house that we kept them in, and since they have grown so quickly it’s just not enough anymore.
During the day they spend it roaming our...
Several of my muscovies have a claw which appears to be broken off short. In each case, this claw is on the outer side of the foot - the "little toe" or "pinkie toe" side if they had human feet. Is this common in muscovies? Does anyone know how it happens?
I just recently bought some Muscovy Ducks. I heard that Muscovy Ducks like to roost so I built them a place to roost but none of them have touched it. They even have a place to roost in their coop but they sleep on the ground. Is this normal? Do some ducks prefer not to roost or are they just...
I just got some Muscovy Ducks. I know that they're able to fly but I don't know how well they're able to. Can they fly long distances like wild ducks do or do they fly few inches or feet off the ground. I ask because I don't want them to fly away and there is a small pond in the woods behind my...
My Muscovies at 12 weeks, interested in hearing from other Muscovy folks what they think the colors might be?
