All,
I have been a long-time lurker on the site, and have learned a ton from all the different posts. I just finished my new chicken coop and am pretty excited about it. It was a lot more work than I expected, but I think it paid off. The girls move in tomorrow…

1st step to chicken math is acceptance.
Spent nineteen hours tearing this bad boy down in some pour ladies backyard. She brought us coffee and blueberries and smoothies. I severely underestimated what it took to disassemble a playhouse. Which is having me reconsider how this thing is...
What began as an empty nester's Mothers Day gift from my three adult children has turned into the most expensive yet peaceful time I've had since coming to know God!
While the cute little pre-fab coops seemed perfect for a small backyard and had all of the cuts and measurements already done...
Today we began building what I’ve currently named The Egg McMansion. I reserve the right to rename it later. 😜
PLANS or rather random notes
It’s Florida so it’s hot and humid a lot of the year and quite wet at times. My Cluck Wagon mobile coop is not working as planned so I’m switching to a...
Man oh man have I daydreamed about my coop for months! The main portion of the coop is complete except some painting and trim! It’s a large 8x8 so we can get plenty more if we want ☺️ I still have more pictures to take now that the door is also on. Next is the flyway. The inside is at least done...
Last year I contacted Carolina Coops to see if they would sell me plans for their coop. Understandably, they declined. So I decided to build my version of their coop. I still spent way too much money on the coop, but it should outlive me with proper maintenance.
The entire structure is 12’ wide...
Added a new coop next to my existing shed. 4x6 coop with a 6x16 run including the space under the coop. Hopefully the ladies like the upgrade from the brooder.
It has come to my attention that my coop and run are smaller than they should be, so I am renovating. I am looking for cheaper ways to build my own coop, ideas, and tips. Thank you sooo much in advance. My girls will be happier.
I just wanted to share with everyone my current setup. I have 13 hens and 1 beautiful roo. I am in Central VA. I just completed a new coop (minus painting) that attaches to my old one for additional space for the girls. Most days they free range in the yard and are locked up at night...
Almost finished my new coop. First coop is 8'x5.25' and I currently have 14 chickens. 1 roo and 13 hens. They free range a couple of hours each day. Here is the new coop almost done and my beautiful Brahma roo. Front doors will fully open and half inch hardware cloth across the top. Let me know...
I am building my first chicken coop and am trying to decide to put the wire inside the wood horizontally or vertically our outside horizontally or vertically. I live in a high predator area so aesthetically inside would look better but want to get max protection. What are you thoughts?
hi all, I’m building a new coop at my future home and would like to use the deep litter method like I have in the coop that came with my current home. It was built in the olden days on a dirt floor. has anyone done this? What all do I need to know to build it this way? Does anyone NOT recommend...
