I'm worried this one is a Cockerel. The only reason that's a problem is I live in the city. I live at the edge by a a very large park, but I can't have roosters. It looks like they may have sickle feathers. They are about 4 and 1/2 weeks old. Anyone have any thoughts?
Hello! I am new to the backyard poultry crew but have been using this site for SO MANY THINGS! We currently have a flock of 6. We have gotten 4 of the 6 from a local breeder and ordered them as pullets, as we live in the city where sadly roosters are not welcome. 3 of our originals are laying...
Hi, everything is telling me this BR is a rooster, is there any hope that it is not? It is about 6 months old, has grown to be a bit larger than the other one the same age and is a bit feistier to try to pick up. Is a bit lighter coloured and seems to have more rooster like neck feathers. No...
This is a partridge plymouth rock at approximately 6 weeks. I’ve had horrible luck with chicks turning into roos and the fact that this one has a comb starting freaks me out. However, it’s mostly yellow and I don’t really see any wattles forming yet so those seem like good signs. What’s your...
We have 2 Plymouth barred rock chickens. One has more white but looks and acts more like a pullet. The other one has double the wattle size, bigger and redder comb/wattle. Personality has always been more dominant, not afraid to wonder alone or be pet. It’s bigger than two blue andalusians that...
Is anyone able to tell me if the Plymouth rocks pictures here are both pullets or is the lighter one a cockerel? They are 12 weeks old.
sorry for the poor quality on photo.

On the 16th evening to 17th morning of April, (approximately 3 days ago) I hatched 4 cute little barred plymouth rock chicks! (YAY!!!) :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
And being the keen researcher I am, I fell into the rabbit hole of the hundreds of posts and videos on how to identify what sex the...
Hi, our family is new to owning chickens. A week ago we collected 3 barred Plymouth rocks. We would love everyone's thoughts if we have three girls or if we have any roo's? None of them are really light in colour so we are hoping we have all girls.
We're leaving for a one-week vacation and we're so scared this might be a Roo and start crowing while we are away. It would kick up quite a fuss in the quiet neighbourhood and might just get all the hens kicked out! PLEASE HELP! Roo or Hen? Approximately 15 weeks old.
