Hello. I am having trouble finding a good soy free, corn free all Flock feed that is safe for roosters. We have two flocks and one rooster with each flock. We do have our hens on a soy, corn free layer feed but we need a good and healthy soy, corn free feed that is safe for roosters too. The...
Hi all, I've been a reader for years - finally made an account haha. Used the advice here to hatch my first cortunix quail and they're doing great! 12 of them are 3 weeks old (I think a mixture with Italian, pearl). Started from Craigslist eggs 👍
I have a soy allergy so they're on a soy-free...
Hi everyone !
Long story short my non gmo & non soy feed I usually get for my flock is not going to be an option anymore.
I’m having such a tough time finding an alternative that’s not going to make me go broke or one that I’m going to have to order online.
I’d prefer to buy locally or at...
Hi all, ducks are currently 7 wees old and are eating Nature's Best Organic Duck Crumbles. My plan is to switch them to a feed specifically for ducks (not a layer feed) but a feed with around 1% calcium and 17ish% protein. It is important to me that the feed be soy free and at least non-gmo if...
Hi everyone!
We're about to transition our flock of laying hens (and one pullet) to a homemade mix of grains/seeds, etc. I found this recipe one BYC ages ago (will link the original post if I can find it,) and just wanted to run it by some more experienced chicken keepers:
12 cups of whole...
Does anyone know of farms/companies on the West Coast that sell duck feed without wheat, rye, or barley, or soy? I know of New Country Organics and Reedy Fork Organic Farm, but both of those eastern suppliers charge an arm and a leg for shipping (I'm in Oregon). We put a mix together ourselves...
Hello there, I was interested in an animal nutrition consultation, but sadly, no self respecting animal nutrition consultant will take a guy with several dozen ducks on his property seriously. I run a medium sized poultry farm in East Tennessee and I feel less than amazing about feeding them...
(Taking requests for corn free please email [email protected])
Hi all, we now have our gluten free, soy free, holistically grown chicken feed for sale.

What are some ways you get calcium into your chickens
I use oyster shell and limestone. I'm wondering if there are any other inexpensive ways to get calcium into their diet.
What grasses or other plants do your chickens like to eat that grow fast? I want to try growing flats of something in the house so i can have the chicken eat something fresh (other than store bought stuff) in and out of the coop over the winter.
