Hullo,

I am having issues with one of my chicks. After treating an issue with pasty but I checked on one of the chicks and the vent appears inflamed and reddend on one spot. I believe it could be from the other chicks but im not sure and of course i am concerned. I did treat the affected chick with the anibacterial veticyn(not sure i spelled it right) and have it seperated now.

Yes. Sorry i had already settled them in for the night. Though separating them didnt work this is about the best my phone can do.

Looks like it's prolapsed a bit.

I'd try warm epsom salts compresses. Make sure you dry the chick really well with a hair dryer, then apply a bit of coconut oil, ointment or anti-inflammatory cream to the vent.

Work on getting this chick hydrated, then offer wet soupy feed.

er it will take a moment to do that it she pooped not too long ago. Do to the red coloration on her vent I don't want them pecking at her.

She did finally peck at alittle bit of the food just now. I have her in the crate to keep her near the others while keeping them from being able to peck at her. Unfortunately i dont have a better container that can keep her size in while letting her see them better. She also has the thermometer so i can watch the temperature from my desk.

Move the food out from under the heat. Food/water should be on the cool side or end of the brooder. The chicks are piled away from that area which indicates it's too hot. Looks almost like they don't know exactly where to go with the crate in there. Arrange it so they can get past the crate without scorching.

The vent looks better, I'd keep up with taking care of it like you have been doing.

I moved it back. At the time the heat lamp was in a slightly different angle when I had moved it over there. When I went back in there they had moved back to the other area perfectly fine. The cooler temp in the far side of the crate it hovering at 87°
