We have a one year old Red Dorking Rooster in need of a new home.
We started our chicken adventure last year with 6 young birds from a breeder across the state. I thought at the time I had 5 females and 1 male. However, in my new to chicken raising status, I accidentally picked out 2 males and 4 females. I didn't realize my mistake until several months later. Oops. I know the differences real well now.
The two have done well together and seldom get into scuffles. But...they are tearing our ladies apart. They tend to "tag-team" when mating and the ladies are losing feathers faster than they can grow them back. Putting aprons/saddles on them hasn't seem to stem the damage either. Our only solution, other than culling him to eat is to try and find a home for him.

His name is Archer. We got him last June when he was about 3 months old.

He is the smaller and more docile of the two roosters we have. He does have a stub toe on his right foot (he was born that way).
I am not asking any fees, just that he goes to a home where he may be able to have his own set of girls without competition.
Red Dorkings are an awesome, rare breed.

If you have any questions, please ask. I am willing to drive to meet someone, within reason.
