CharmingChickens
🦜🦃🐓🦢🦆Started with chickens now has an army 🦆🦢🐓🦃🦜
Two days ago my favorite chicken kippie went missing. I went to do my regular afternoon chicken chores when I counted the chickens and I realized one was missing. I wasn’t worried since kippie had often not come in for the night. But I looked everywhere and I couldn’t find her. Currently I free range my birds. I honestly thought maybe she wandered off it the woods and went too far and met her end. Until the next day. I let the birds out, I stayed outside from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Just to be safe. And the whole time everybody was fine there was no commotion. So I went inside with the windows open. Didn’t hear any chickens/ducks freaking out at all. And then I went to do my afternoon chores, and noticed a duck was missing. Great. Once again I looked everywhere, nothing. No files of feathers, no blood, no evidence whatsoever. I've had my fair share of predator attacks, I've had a fox, which I doubt did this. In my experience foxes almost always leave evidence like a bunch of feathers. I've had a weasel attack and those are never secret. All i can think of is a hawk. But I don't understand why the chickens wouldn't of reacted. I HAD 16 hens 2 roosters. 1 drake and 4 hens. and every time a hawk has flown by the flock has always reacted. And they're always on high alert. every time a hawk flys by they usually hide in the woods or under the coop/porch. I no longer will free range my birds for the time being. i just feel so bad for them since their run hasn't been built yet. this whole situation has been so confusing and i just want answers. If you have any idea or information for me and this situation i would appreciate it greatly.
