Hello!

I am wondering if my 2 week old chicks need a heat plate still. The temperature high is in the 90s and the lows are in the low 70s.
They are never really under it as well and they are in my garage that makes it a little hotter.
TIA

What Rosemarythyme said - my younger batch are 4 weeks and 5 weeks old and they have been without heat since 1.5 weeks/2.5 weeks old. We are in the *smothering* heat of North Carolina and they just never used the brooder plate.

edit; for what it's worth, they have also been outside and are now free-ranging all day long and can coop up themselves at sundown.

By 4/5 weeks old

These birds are WAY more capable than we give them credit for.

In the mornings, they see me walking out to the coop, and they bust out to get to the door just like my big girl flock. They love it!!
