You can check your online catalog and see what your store will be offering. Each location is responsible for buying their own chicks so their can be some variations of breeds from store to store depending on what your TSC ordered. I'd say most TSC supply their chicks from Hoover's so you can check their site and see what breeds they're selling this year and if they've developed any new hybrids.

Ours gets theirs from Hoovers and Privetts.
The chicks are mailed to the p.o, which someone picks up and takes to the store.
There's no prior knowledge to the breeds or sex of incoming chicks until they're delivered.
Last year, someone in usps removed the shipping invoice from the order and the chicks had to be sold for $1 since there was no other information on what they were. My $1 legbars are great.

The Hoovers Prairie Bluebells worked nicely for us. We saw variety in size and color of eggs, but the hens were gorgeous and would probably have free ranged nicely if I had that kind of setup. I'd buy more than you expect to keep, and sell any that don't lay or act how you like.
